Hello everyone I'm new to swimbait fishing and I was told that this was a good place that I can get help. If I'm not posting in the right place please let me know. I'm here in Florida and I want to get my new PB and I have seen the best way to do it is on big swimbaits. My current record is 7lbs not small but not the biggest either. I am also a soft plastic bait maker as well also do alot of saltwater fishing...... anyways back to the point I have 0 experience when it comes to swimbaits along with 0 confidence. So I was wondering what is the best way to start I would like to get a decent setup do I have been looking at a shimano tranx 300 but I'm not sure about the rod yet I was looking to throw 20lb fluorocarbon line unless I'm told otherwise on here. So what are y'alls suggestions on beginner baits that will get me bites and a decent rod to get as well. A bait that I do make is a 4inch paddletail swimbait along with a 6inch and the 6inch bait takes a 10/0 owner beast. The picture I have added is my 6inch bait.

So I have very recently gotten into throwing big swimbaits, and I have come across a great deal of Deps 175/250 models on eBay, here, and other sites. My question is, what is the difference between the old and new models? Which do you guys prefer? Sorry for the noob question, but I cannot seem to find the answer to this anywhere.

Hey everyone, Finally getting into the swimbait game and thought it would be a good idea to join this community. After getting introduced to swimbaits this spring by Swimbaitman, I decided to take a break from the Mepps and try something new. Went fishing today in Danvers and caught my first glide-bait fish on a Gancraft 178. Looking forward to catching more next weekend! Looking forward to becoming a more active member here and working towards a new PB this fall. Take it easy!

Hey guys recently picked up this Roman made mother in the US Gill color that just came out. I have ONLYthrown it in alittle koi pond to check how it looks and its AMAZING! So this RM Mother is like new great condition. I am looking to get rid of it mostly for a good combo (Rods: LDC, Phenix, maybe a G Loomis) (Reels: shimano or diawa). Hey guys, first off thanks you for welcoming me to SU I learned a lot of useful information. Secondly I am a new swimbaiter in NEBRASKA. I got an iRod Jr swim rod with a lexa 300. Tomorrow I will be getting my first order of lures: 7" ms slammer, islide 185, gantarel, lunker punker, bbz rat, and Judd 8". I figured that most of these got me covered for the basics. Just need line and I am good to go. Next week my lake will be stocking 10" trouts so hopefully I can catch my first swimbait bass! Keep up the good work guys!
