  1. northern pike loveeee ganterals but maybe pickerel are different
  2. I find it super annoying that musky glider and bass glidebaits have such similar, or the same name. Especially since on tackle underground, if you want info on glides, then youre getting single peice musky baits while if you say swimbait, as you know there's an infinite amount of different types of swimbaits.
  3. I like my 5 dollar pretty pink berkley ones but they could definitely be bigger
  4. I tie 80 pound flouro to 65 braid with alberto and a drop of superglue then crimp direct to the bait. use the smallest crimp you can get away with and your only real problem might be slime in late summer. Ive found the loop from the crimp gives weedless rising sons a nice head wiggle.
  5. A3 is on sale on TW right now for 180
  6. Made a swim bait master that I really like, but wanted to see if you guys would think it will work. I want to rig it weedless on a owner beast 10/0. Do you think this would work? What brand of plastisol do you guys recommend for big swimbaits like these?
  7. I have a buff and its pretty soft. havent tried any others though
  8. i felt the same way when i joined the forum lol
  9. how do people get these? their site says theyre not released yet.
  10. Thank you for this info! I do plan on fishing the Mississippi in Monticello near the power plant discharge for smallies, but wasn't sure whether or not I'd use swimbaits. I also live near the crow river which has lots of 3-4 pound small mouth that would definitely eat swimmers but the muddy water and large amount of snags make me quite hesitant.
  11. Idk if the ganteral really counts but that thing gets bit, period.
  12. Well, I brought the rods inside, loosened the drag on all my reels, and started tidying up my tackle today. I didn't want to, but with temps dropping fast the last couple weeks, with no warmth in site, I decided to call it. Gotta say though, my first year throwing swimbaits was a blast. Caught my PB, as well as many other nice fish. So, I think I'm gonna break down my year, talk about what worked when, and what didn't, as well as any other observations. Feel free to give some input, or share your own write up on this thread. SPRING The MN DNR don't allow bass fishing until May, due to the possibility of accidentally catching spawning walleye while targeting prespawn bass. Luckily bass hadn't moved all the way into the spawn when opener came around. My first trip out was on a small lake. I was fishing a Weedless Rising Son most of the day, around docks and shallow vegetation. I landed 2 fish that day, both around 3 pounds. Not huge, but definitely a big confidence booster since it was my first trip out. I later started fishing my Gotem Coach gill more. On one cold, windy day, I was fishing it around emerging pads that the wind was blowing into, when I got slammed, and pulled in my PB. WRS and the Gotem Coach produced most my fish from may until mid June. SUMMER Gotta say, summer was a grind. By far the best producer was the Jackall Ganteral. Something about this bait just makes fish eat. The Spro Rat did account for some fish, but not nearly as much as the Ganteral. Not too much to say for this season. Fished the Ganteral around weed edges, pads, and points. Fished the rat in bays, around pads and slop, and docks. FALL Fall was not fantastic. With school, sports, no license yet, and a broken motor, I really didn't get much fishing time. I spent the time I could fish using the S-Waver 200. Never got a follow on it. My buddies were getting bit on the ganteral, but I no longer had the one i was borrowing from a friend so I was outta luck there. My one friend was getting bit consistently on smaller paddle tails, which I was going to try and translate into rising sons, but almost as soon as Cross country ended, the weather got miserable, and fishing was no longer as appealing. WHAT WILL I DO DIFFERENTLY? For starters, I would like to really try and figure out this S waver and get bit on that. I would also like to night fish next summer. I failed to do that this season and think it could really help. I need to either fish on my own, or only people with the same game plan as me, and not have to compromise so much because of where I'm fishing. Honestly, more time on the water will be key. Once I have my license, I can fish way more and really figure it out. Thanks for reading, hope you found that some what helpful or interesting.
  13. Yeah small lakes are definitely the way to go I've noticed. Less pressure, and a lot easier to breakdown.
  14. Never fished that area really, but I know some nice spots in the West metro
  15. Welcome to the game man, not too many of us minnesota swimbaiters around. Trust me, I upsized quickly so go with the dobyns. never even threw my 6 in hudd. Where in mn are you?
  16. Add weight close behind the lip, and close to the joint in the second piece.
  17. Be proud man... most minnesota guys would put that on the mantle
  18. Ordered mine last night and haven't gotten any sort of confirmation email or anything. Paypal went through. Is this normal for other people who've ordered them? Seemed odd to me.
  19. I think I've seen you mention this on another thread. Been meaning to try it.
  20. Pink rising sons have caught me some fish, but not as much as the more natural ones. That being said, it might be due to time fishing each.
