Will look into it. Thanks man

Improved clinch. I believe my knot was the problem. I refuse to blame the line. Big game has been good to me over the years

So this morning my new thumper tail was delivered and i couldnt wait to try it out. First cast out i let it settle and starts reeling very slow. Then i felt some small bumps but i thought i was hitting the rocks at the bottom of the lake and kept reeling. After a couple second i realized it was actually a bite and i set the hook. I had missed but kept reeling slow and sure enough the fish came back. This time i set the hook and connected. I was about to grab him when my line snapped at the knot. The fished stayed floating for a couple seconds and i almost grabbed him but swam off. About a minute later he jumps out of the water and i see my swimbait fly off into the water. RIP. Had it for about 6 hours. And the fish was about 8 or 9 pounds. May not sound huge but for the lake i was fishing thats a big bass. I cant explain what happened honestly. I was using 25lb big game but the knot snapped without much pressure. The fish had already given up. Im heart broken. I may not sleep tonight. I know what i want for christmas. Unfortunately i didnt get a pic with a fish today

I have the rof5 top hook and it does not float

The deep one i have a 10 inch hudd, five 8 inch hudds, and about 5 other swimbaits. Theres a lot of room in it. My plano broke at the latches within a week

The flambeau i have is great. Its the deep version waterproof one. You wont be dissapointed. A lot sturdier than my old plano too

Im using 20lb big game on that setup

Texas Bass in Trout Stocked Lakes - Tips
d-camarena replied to Kyle Davidson's topic in The Underground
Hey man im from austin also. You fish off the bank or boat? I do both, i have a small bass raider. I dont know any other swimbaiters around here. We should try and get together for some swimbaiting sometime. And about yout question. I throw swimbaits all year in lake austin, decker lake and ladybird. Seems to be working all year -
I have a different rod i can try. Its a little faster and heavier. Maybe i can get better results. But next time out im going to focus and loading the tip and setting the hook with sweep style hookset. I dont get much fishing time and when i do i want to make sure i connect
-
Thanks for the suggestions. The rod i was using was a 7'11 moderate fast with a lure weight 1-6. Seemed to me like the rod was not the problem. Looking back at what happened im thinking i might have given it enough slack to throw the hook
