Finally got the 908 and paired it up with a curado 300e…..use mainly to toss the baitsanity and it handles the bait perfectly. Wind or no wind, no problem…this thing is a beast. I haven’t hooked into any fish yet but when I do, I know I’ll wrench them in! I use 65lb braid to a 40lb leader…..heavy to match the action of the rod, I feel like anything lighter and I’ll break off because of the power of the stick. Backed off on the drag a bit, once in a fight I can adjust as needed. Mine rod is the first generation, not sure if that’s good or bad but it’s a beast! Super light, which is good for casting all day. Can’t wait to hook into something big so I can feel the power of the rod. It’s a must for the bigger baits. I have the 807 and although it can handle the bigger baits I feel as though it’s sweet spot is 4-6oz anything heavier and I feel the rod overloading. The 908 loads up juts enough with the ss250 or baitsanity without feeling likes it’s overloading, this rod is built for the bigger stuff that I don’t have yet. Can’t wait to see how it handles the big stripers…will test it on tuna this coming season here in SoCal.
