Planning on going down to southern CT/ Long Island sound this season for stripers. I'd like to have an extra spool to throw 80lb braid on since I dont think 25lb big game is gonna cut it and re-spooling a bunch of times isn't convenient. New or used is cool with me, or point me in the direction on where to scoop one on the interwebs. thanks! -
I always look at google maps or earth to get another dimension when scouting out spots. Two areas in the circles look really fishy, with lots of channels/ depth changes. Fish definitely will be deep come ice out, but as it warms the access from deep water to the shallow flats where spawning can happen is key. Id maybe try working shallow to deep first too as the fish are going to more than likely be looking and moving uphill has the season progresses. Good luck, looks like a sweet body of water. Got a 8'3" maverick recently and paired it with a Luna 300. The telescopic model slides down to just a little bit over 7' which is super clutch. No fish on it yet but it has a very nice action and throws different weight baits exceptionally well. A+ customer service when ordering, definitely worth a serious look if you're in the market!

I've had decent luck with both C and D this season. If it is a true miss by the fish usually go with C and if I put the screws to one and loose it halfway to the boat, Ive had luck burning it back in and casting back to the area where the fish came unbuttoned.
