  1. When replacing trebles with singles on hard baits, the main thing you should focus on is to maintain the balance of the lure. Some hardbaits keep a good swimming action regardless of what hook you use. Others will see their action degraded. You might end up having to try different sizes to see what works best on your lure.
  2. A "musky" style rod, with its fast action, could work for you. Most of your swimbaits are rubber baits. When an esox sinks its teeth in a chunk of soft plastic, that creates a lot of grip. A fast action rod will give you a better chance of moving the lure, and thus the hooks, inside that mouth and getting a good hookset. Additionally, "musky" rods tend to be longer than what is available in the "bass swimbait" industry, 9 foot 6, 10 foot or even 10 foot 6. this is very nice for casting distances and figure 8's (those work for pike too) Chaos Tackle and Tackle Industries have very good customer service from what ive experienced and heard. Although you increase the chance of a fish getting unhooked, since your rod wont be as forgiving,
  3. it should soon be possible to buy a similar sized paddle tail soft plastic swimbait. 58cm & 1150grms https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=4584496544905553&id=100000357577601 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1977738192384018&id=165718146919374
  4. both the single strand and 7 strand titanium from afw is knotable. I make my leaders using figure 8 knots and have yet to see a failurewhen the knots are done well, be it fighting big pike or wels catfish. I wouldint crimp totanium because it is easier to mess up and damage it compared to stee or fluro.
  5. If you want a leader that doesint get cut & isint stiff enought to ruin the action of your smaller lures, use 7 strand titanium. I like the one from afw. Fluro is a bad choice for esox. Fluro is plastic and esox teeth can cut through plastic. Titanium is awsome because it doesint kink like steel and it doesint get cut like fluro.
  6. This is purely out of curiosity, I probably will never be able to afford these lures. Manifold seems to produce 2 similar lures, spec444 and spec456. The difference in lenght is just 12mm and the 444 weights 655grm. Anyone know the weight of the 456? Also why is there 2 very similar sizes? Was the 456 the prototype befor the final product?
  7. well, becides the lures i mentioned in the previous message, you have the savagear stuff (40 cm trout, 32cm roach, 50 cm burbot) and the lucky tarpoon. Dont think there is anything else currently being produced.
  8. Not sure what lure you are talking about. Got a picture? The BIG European paddletails i know about are: - Mels Handmade Lure 42cm mamashad - eastfiled lures 40cm viper - Revolution tackle 42 cm dag shad (not yet in production) - for rage 40cm giant replicant pike - fox rage 35cm guant replicant The first 3 are in the 600 to 650grm weight class and the last 2 are in the 450 to 500 grm weight class. I think mel handmade lures shippes directly to North America.
  9. I can imagine, hopefully by then you would be a boat owner and can trolle the 550. I know this isint really in the same category, but if you are looking for a 2 piece glidebait but cant finde a mother chaser or a spec 444, you could try the lucky tarpon from lucky lures. Similar size to the 40cm savagear trout or mother chaser. https://www.luckylures.nl/shop/COMMISIONNED-LURES/LUCKY-TARPON
  10. It does look MASSIVE but suprinsingly not STUPID massive. When next to the 40cm trout, I could imagine how a fish capable of eating the 4d trout could look at the manifold and think it is meal size.
  11. Good to know someone fishes that lure. Hope it brings you something BIG. Out of curiosity, since i probably never will be able to afford one, does the "skin" on it seem durable enought for pike/muskie teeth?
  12. I would like to buy myself some of these: https://www.t-designjp.com/product-page/hook-clip But they dont ship to Europe. Have no found any other website that sells them. Does anyone know of a online store that sells them or a similar product? Thanks for any info!
  13. dont mean to hijack op's subject, but mu108 means it is a 10 foot 8 rod?
  14. would completely disagree, esox teeth can cut mono and fluro. metal doesint get cut as easly so it is better for bite protection. the only advantage plastic has is that it almost never kinks, so the leader is useable as long as it doesint get into contact with esox teeth.
  15. i would recommend that you only use 7 strand titanium or 49 strand steel, same lb rating as your braid. Making your own, it could avoid a heartbreak. fluro and mono arent bite proof so i wouldint recommend using them
  16. I do fish the savagear alot. The 32cm 420grm line thru roach is a kickass bait, although only available in Europe from what ive seen But im not always with the line thru system so i might get tge deps if the price isint something crazy.
  17. A few years ago, deps showed a prototype of a big soft plastic swimbait, has there been any info about it since then? Cheers for any info!
  18. Is this a "natural" small lake where the bass just behave like this or is this a group of hungry farmed fish?
  19. Hello everyone. Im looking for a A-rig that is beefy enought to be used with 8 to 10 oz swimbaits, does anything like that existe on the market today? Cheers for any info!
  20. Sqaw these on the swimbaitunderground 9instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/CJRR0rthePJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Anyone have a link to where I could buy these or a similar product?
  21. And that is why I love casting that lure for big northern pike.
  22. Hello everyone, question about mainlines and swimbaits. When throwing big lures, the muskie guys and euro pike guys use 80 to 100lb braid. This beefy mainline is so that lures dont get lost during a backladh and for that fish get quickly dragged into the net. Meanwhile from what ive seen, you guys use 20 to 40lb mono depending on lure weight. As I understand, the extra strech of mono makes it easier for a fish to engulf a bait, is that correct? What other advantages does a nylon or fluro mainline have? Cheers for any info.
  23. Would definitly be cool if it turns out to be reality.
  24. Curious to know, do you have any sources you could share about those rumours? Normaly when savagear makes a new XXXL lure, the boss, Mads, likes to tease on his FB page. I personnaly havint seen anything like that yet.
