They work yr round and everywhere too. I drag them on the bottom anywhere from 18-30' of water in the summer here in FL for those deep bass. I think here they mimic a catfish really well.

I'm pretty sure they're all owners. My strong shads came with Owner st-41s. That's a 2x hook and plenty even for braid imo.

I got both to try and sold the Dobyns. Feels heavy compared to other rods in the same size. Plus i liked the long cork handle on the DX. But i agree with the above the irod Genesis II is very nice too.
