  1. Heck yeah don’t be afraid of the big baits up north
  2. Yeah the c2c is just a bonus I wouldn’t sweat it
  3. Just over 8 shame it wasn’t a tad longer
  4. I also got to see I thought was crazy. I noticed a solid 5-6lb male bass on a bed and 8 plus female off the bank just kinda waiting so I stopped the boat and made a few casts at the female. I started to pick up a bluegill Swimbait at try when 3 more female bass I’m sure were in a Wolfpack feeding swam up on the bed. I’m sure they just thought hey there’s a few more bass that can join us while the two bass getting ready to spawn just followed them up like they wanted to spawn with them. So you 4 8-10 lb class and a 6lb bass all there on the bank in 2ft of water. Then a seconds later before I can throw a Swimbait in there’s a beaver swims right up the bank through the bed scattering the bass. What are the odds right after those bass are right on the bank in front of me that stupid beaver messes it up.
  5. Cold front a bluebird skies hurt the bite a little. I had a few other good hits on the glide that didn’t commit or I would have had a 30+ sack. Latter in the evening I was seeing wolf packs with multiple 8lb+ females cruising so I’m hoping that carries over til in the morning.
  6. Idk they all seemed morbidly obese too fat to jump I’m worried about their cholesterol
  7. Smiling when I caught them then was rushing to weigh it and get a pic and get another
  8. Pretty fun day had one over 9, a 7, 6.5 and few 5.5 and a 4lb. Males starting to make a few beds but cold spell has most bass waiting and still biting. Other lakes I fish have a lot of bass bedding and it’s gonna a post spawn bite soon. Check out the red eyes on a few of those bass. I caught a few males on the glide and there are lots of Males on this lake that are in the 4-7lb range. I did see a stump with two males in the 5-6 range bedding with a female pushing DD.
  9. Put a new eye on and use a little mend it. I also used mend it to repair tears in the skin typically around the hooks.
  10. They are used more than you realize but it’s usually something a guy throws for a kicker not the bait that accounts for most of the bass. They work better on the massive lakes on smaller lakes in a 4 day tournament the pressure hurts it. There have been a few good seminars on Bass University on fishing Swimbaits in tournaments they are effective but situational. There have been guys in the past trying to use Swimbaits as a primary bait and most crash and burn.
  11. Same here but it’s all relative 55 in the Deep South is like 50 here or like 45 in northern states
  12. I’ve had some good days on the sebile magic swimmer fishing shallow flats and points it’s not a high end bait with exact Shad profile but they will eat it, how many tournaments have been won on jerkbaits? Exactly
  13. First off don’t listen to guys recommendations based on water temperature. I fish from New York to Florida and its all relative to where you live no disrespect to mossypumpkin but 45 degrees in Maine for example is like 50 degrees here in Kentucky and below 60 degrees in Florida they aren’t moving to eat anything. A more general rule is just consider the colder it gets the slower the glide that’s what they suggested more or less and I would also add you need to be in position to put the bait in front of the fish where they won’t have to swim far. At a certain point you may need to go to plastics just because you can go slower and put it right in front of the bass. With glides my best success comes when I can watch fish come up on my bait and they usually aren’t chasing enough to do that or shallow enough in the cold of winter. But as long as your still in that late fall feed your good it can just vary from 40s to 60s depending where you are. Considering your in MO I would say really slow down under 55 and consider soft baits under 50. A good sign for me is follows if I go a long stretch with seeing any follows I know I better with a Hudd or Osprey.
  14. Seen this everywhere enjoy the sold out 10 seconds drop lol
  15. Most pros are the same way you see them using stuff you can get at tacklewarehouse in tournaments that pay 6 figures
  16. I fish 3-4 weeks there every winter definitely nothing like it
  17. I don’t mind paying $100 for a bait because I know I’ll have it a long time and get my money’s worth. I don’t lose big baits I’m fishing near the top and by the time they wear out I’ll get my $ worth. The most expensive baits in the long run are the high end soft plastics in my opinion.
  18. It never hurts to hear about good baits to try but success is more about the fisherman than cool baits. I have baits I really have a ton of confidence in but I also realize if I had to use another similar bait I would be fine.
  19. No giants but had one in the 10 range follow. Several over 4 though. All on a big glide. Tried a new lake I had never even seen had good action despite the unusual conditions. Big cold front after record highs for this time of year.Water is usually mid 50s now and it’s upper 60s so not ideal for big ones my experience but great for numbers. Good news should be a fall bite into December.
  20. I remember reading about big bass on trout lakes 20 years ago thinking I need to try it in local lakes. Eventually when big baits became more available in Kentucky I got a few starting out with baits in the mid size range like mattlures hardgill, 6in punkers, 8 in triple trouts. Caught fish in the 4-6lb range. Really started getting into targeting big bass 12 years or ago. Later I moved to my hometown and had better access to a lake with trout eaters started trying a 7in Osprey which is better size for 7in bait catching a few. Experimented and noticed the drawing power with baits in 8 in range. Over time dialed in times of year, lakes to fish, bait selection. Everything I did I figured out on my own I didn’t know anyone around here using big baits. Now I’ve gotten to the point where I consistently catch fish in the 6-7 and multiple fish a day are normal. Big advice I would give is don’t get complacent try new lakes, new baits, different times of year. And when I say new baits don’t go from throwing a 7in pizz glide to a workhorse. Completely change go to a different size of bait, if you use soft try hard baits if your on the bottom try on top.
  21. Yeah I can catch 7s pretty consistent on our trout lakes and if you can catch 7s eventually you can luck into a 8-10. If your catching lots of 5-6 fish and just a 7 rarely your chance of a 8 or bigger is slim. We occasionally have 10s around that’s my big goal and a 30lb 5 fish day
  22. I only fish trout lakes when I’m targeting big bass. On normal lakes bass bass over 6-7 are scarce. If I was after multiple fish in the 4-6 range I would go to small random lakes but I’m looking for bass 7 plus. I would definitely check out more trout lakes.
