    Very good point. I have used Irod's personally and love them, irod and dobyns are my favorite off the shelf. I have not went to a custom yet but want to try an F5, Nef, LDC, MOAM, or something of that caliber eventually.

    I would think Paul Bailey wouldn't put his name on a rod he wouldn't use himself, (and he loves hudds) even though what BigSlant said sounds like it could be true.

    phone, scale, pliers, line hooks, rings, split ring pliers. band aids or something incase you get hooked or scraped. I like to tell at least one person I can trust where I will be and when to expect me back, you never know if something might happen and you need help. If you let someone know to make sure you are ok then it is not a bad thing. i like a knife too.

    I have seen people take the pins out with small drill bits, then drill and weight the bait themselves and seal with epoxy but you need to be careful and confident in your ability to do it well.
