Well. Second landed sb fish... I'm seeing a pattern. Lost 2 hudd68s to pickerel and then got this guy today. 37° and rainy. Just lovely. I can't wait for spring

Just picked up some 60lb leader and crimps so I'll see how that goes

Ok I was trying to put this with that but it didn't for whatever reason. Problem is my water is 40-35° right now so I don't think I'll be moving any bass with topwater. I'll be sure to remember that for when it's warmer though

Hmmm thanks so far everyone. What about 8" hudds? Will that keep most of the pickerel away? Someone just caught a 26" 5lb pickerel and I know there are a lot in the 24" range where I fish

I would be super happy with that birthday present. Looks nice Garrett

So I already asked about people having problems with pickerel and most people said they haven't had much problem. But I have gone fishing around 10 times so far with swimbaits and I have only landed one sb fish so far(not surprised) but it was a pickerel. Also today I got bit if by a pickerel using 25lb copoly. I've only used hudd68s so far. So my question is do I keep throwing the copoly and just deal with the loses or can I use a steal leader of some sorts? Will that bother and bass that might take a look at my bait? I'm in highschool and have a tight budget so I hate loosing stuff but I'm still addicted to trying to catch big bass.

I have the fury 806 and it is definitely more on the moderate side so just keep that in mind for jig hook baits.

Oh hurray... I have one in the mail. Was hoping they would stay away from it

It's actually green gizzard shad. I just ordered it off tackle warehouse

Last winter my dad and i caught 4 24" pickerel which is citation here in VA. Now that I'm getting into the swimbait game I'm going for a 28". Idk if that's possible but it's a goal.

. Hmm maybe I'll up my goal then. Thanks for the encouragement

I have the 300 with 80lb braid and so far it appears to hold enough line. Haven't come close to spooling on a cast

Awesome year. I think I'm gonna set a goal of 10 fish 5 pounds or more. I think I got 4-5 this year but that was all on conventional. Just getting into the swimbait game.

Well it wasn't the species I was going for but it's better then nothing. Feels good to catch a fish. I have been in a little bit of a slump. 23" chain pickerel, not a bad first Hudd 68 fish. That 806 totally wrecked that fish.

Not totally related to swimbaits but in gonna use it to paint some swimbaits I'm working on

Got out today for about 2 hours and since I just got my swimbait setup complete I figured I'd chuck a 68 for a while. Well needless to say I wasn't expecting 5 bites my first time swimbait fishing... Even had a 5lber come out from under the pier I was standing on and miss my bait about 5 feet away. Although I missed every fish I left with a few teeth marks on my first hudd and a whole lotta confidence. I know this year is gonna be good. Merry Christmas to y'all.
