  1. @danthefisherman @azsouthWow, Just re-read what i posted yesterday and wanted to apologize for how unclear my suggest came out. I did not mean to suggest mounting the box fan to the back of your downdraft table with a filter. That honestly wouldn't do much for catch any more dust that your shopvac. As well as the fire risk @azsouth pointed out. But i would mount one on the ceiling above the table, drawing air through a filter that faces your table (blowing away from the table). This WILL greatly reduce the amount of airborne dust that I'm sure you find on just about every surface in your shop after sanding. Sorry for rambling, Just don't want give bad advice that is potentially dangerous. Carry on. Would love to see some shots of the rest of your shop.
  2. Thank you for pointing this out. I was more mentioning the box fan for a ceiling mounted application to catch all the fine dust you cant see in the air. The stuff that inevitably coats everything in a garage after a sanding project. I wouldn't use it for anything more than that and in that application, it is perfectly safe. Hundreds if not thousands of wood workers have box fans humming away above their heads while they work sucking dust into 20x20 furnace filters. @danthefisherman if you wanna improve the suction on that table, Increase the cfm of air moving through it. Shop vacs use high pressure air with low cfm, dust collectors do the opposite. My 6hp shop vac moves something around 200cfm. But my 2hp dust collector moves close to 1700cfm.
  3. Really like that downdraft table you built there. Using the same style mask here without the attached goggles. Cant smell a thing through it. You could add a 20" box fan with a filter on the back for any airborne dust that doesn't go down in the table. You'd be surprised how much dust such a cheap simple rig can remove from the air. For sanding i have a 2hp dust collector to remove any dust or debris. But if you aren't careful, that thing will take the sand paper and even your carving knife right out of your hand.
  4. Man that truly is a beautiful mold. Just like everything else in this build, the attention to detail is inspiring.
  5. Right on man. Always thought about using clay but I'm no good with the stuff. Never thought I'd see another member on here in Jax. Welcome!
  6. Thanks man! First time trying out this color. Thanks man! You cant see the shift at all indoors but out in the sun it POPS. If only my phone camera could pick up the amount of sparkle in this paint. Pictures and videos really do it no justice.
  7. The next 2 will more than likely be a pumpkinseed pattern using a light blue/green color shift. The last two are undecided. Also planning on shooting my clears from here on out. Dipping with this much detail in the carving is just giving an unmanageable amount of bubbles.
  8. It’s been 7 months since these bodies have left the box i put them in back in June. A lot has changed since then. Built a garage/shop out of the carport attached to my house. Now there is a designated place to build, paint, design and test baits. Oh and finish this box of 4 piece swimbaits. Painted 2 of the 6 bodies that passed inspection in a Golden Shiner pattern with gold/green color shift paint. IMG_1920.MOV
  9. Man those gills look incredible. I would add to the note taking idea, CLEARLY mark the tests that don't work as well as the ones that do. Don't know how many times i have poured late at night following a recipe that was a failure but wasn't marked as such very clearly.
  10. It looks amazing so far man! Good luck on separating the two sides, makes me nervous thinking about it.
  11. Finished up a yellow perch for some testing at Lake Marion in SC. And the rest of the bodies are well on their way to paint.
  12. Thanks man! guess i forgot to mention this bait was completely redesigned and rebuilt with better proportions. Below is the old design vs. the new.
  13. If they’re air bubbles there are a bunch of stuff to consider. You could switch to a slower setting resin. try baby powder on your molds, this can help keep bubbles from sticking to the inside of the mold. Pour down one side of the inside of the mold with as thin a stream as possible while still getting it all in there before it sets. Your fix will most likely be a combo of things. I wish you the best of luck
  14. Have you cut into one to see if it’s an air bubble below the surface? If that isnt it, i’d say look at your molds or try a new resin
