  1. I’m sorry to bother you guys with another “which one should I get” type of post, but I have no way of seeing and holding before I buy. I’ll make it very simple, if you were fishing with lures up to 1.5oz that are mostly spinners and swimbaits (we are fishing for big pike), would you get a zillion or a bantam? I have zero brand loyalty. So if there’s another suggestion out there drop it on me.
  2. I love how the metanium’s look like predator helmets. Is there a bantam equivalent reel in the 200 size?
  3. What makes the bantam so good? You guys aren’t the first to suggest it. I honestly thought the bantam was just a little better than a curado. But thank you I will look into it. btw I am fishing for pike
  4. Hey guys. I own a Tranx 200, 300 and 400. I was just wondering if I should just get a Tranx150 or a metanium to throw spinner baits and swimbaits below 1.5oz. im using a Tranx 200 for 1.5 to 3 oz.
  5. St croix makes rods called the legend tournament pike. That might work for you? I have two of them but one is broken and one is too light for what you need.
  6. I plan on using a mark 56 from megabass or a st croix legend tournament pike rod. I’m really tempted to try the megabass evo “white python.”
  7. What is the absolute best (objectively) swimbait reel? I don’t care about brand preference, so if you love shimano, tell me your favorite. If you love Daiwa, tell me your favourite. If you love Abu tell me your favorite. I’d be using it for pike and using lures up to 3oz. I’d be using mostly swimbaits as my smaller rods, take care of spinners and spoons, etc. Doing pretty much the same techniques as you guys do with swimbaits so I figured I’d ask here. it seems like the industry has become complacent. If it’s for finesse, they will make a product that is light and strong and controllable. But then it seems once you get into freshwater swimbait Reels it seems like they said “oh, here’s some thing we already have. We’ll just make it bigger.” I want something as powerful as a tranx, and as light as a steez (5.6oz)
  8. Nevermind I googled it. The thing is I live in Canada. So to ship to my US address and have it shipped up here is a lot of money and to have it shipped to Canada is a lot of money. So unless it’s from American Legacy Fishing or Tackle Warehouse, I normally just say “F-it”
  9. Anyone use the “Mark 56” from Megabass? I know it’s a heavy rod but I was just curious as to how heavy it is. I’m in the market for two new rods and I throw up to 4oz swimbaits (for pike)
  10. I was thinking how nice it would be to catch on something I made. I’m very handy.
  11. Hey now fellas. How you doing? I was wondering who your favourite custom rod makers were? I know nothing about custom rods. Other than they are “better than commercial rods”.
  12. I fish from shore on the side of the river (north Saskatchewan river). I have an Ugly Stick Tiger 7’ with a Daiwa BG MQ m. My main rod is a Shimano Technium Sturgeon rod with a calcutta 400b. I guess I’ll just keep things how they are. Spend money elsewhere like lures and reels lol
  13. I have a hard time finding those
  14. What about this in a 200? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Kistler_Series_1_Casting_Reels/descpage-KSOCR.html
  15. oh dude you have to try one. I use a calcutta b for lake sturgeon and it’s just a joy. When casting a 4oz pyramid weight, my Abu Garcia c4 thumb bar can lock up and not work under such a work load (hence why lots of people use the c3) but the Calcutta thumb bar is strong and works like a champ.
  16. Wow that’s guys for all the responses. I really appreciate it. Im not rich. I work hard for my money. So whatever I buy has to be right the first time. I really appreciate all the help and feedback.
  17. Hey now fellas. So at the end of the fishing season (well summer) I analyze what I need and don’t need. I realized I don’t need as many rods as I have because there were a lot I didn’t use. For example, I have 4 walleye rods. Didn’t touch 3 of them. So I sold 3 of the 4 walleye rods. I kept one of the 4 as a backup and realized that I was ready to jump to “premium” rods as my main tools. So for walleye I got a NRX + 822s SYR. For Pike I got a IMX-Pro 904 Swimbait rod. I live in Canada and am a PROUD American. So if a rod is made in the USA I get excited. All that leaves is my beloved Lake Sturgeon. I need a rod that can throw 2-4oz pyramid weights on a sturgeon rig. The tip has to be real soft, as the sturgeon get spooked if it’s stiff. I would prefer it to be a MH as these sturgeons aren’t like the insanely huge ones in the west coast. I already have a heavy rod that is more than adequate. In fact it’s a Shimano Technium Sturgeon rod. I just want a MH lol. I also don’t care if it is a musky or swimbait rod. Both are different and I understand the differences. However both will work in this application. Also I’d like the rod to be Atleast 8’ if not 8’6 or 9’.
  18. I would get a scorpion from a Jdm website. the curado has the idc4 where the scorpion has the idc5 and is about the same price as the curado.
  19. Hey now. I’m looking to get a 200 sized reel for casting 3/8-3oz lures. I am partial to round reels, but will consider using a low pro due to the fact I can’t afford a calcutta conquest right now. I’d like to keep it at $400usd or less. I hate the curado (I have a curado 300 and hate it). I also have two Daiwa tatula 150’s and would like to use something different. I value your guys’ experience and thank you in advance
  20. Lol I went with the GLoomis IMX pro, thanks for all your help guys!
  21. Lol I know I’m asking a lot, bit are there any rods that can throw a 3/8oz lure and a 3 oz lure. I do know that the GLOOMIS IMX pro 904c swimbait can do 1/2-3oz. This is for fishing pike btw.
  22. Hey now. I was just wondering what you would use for 3/4oz to 3oz lures when fishing for larger pike. Would you use 50lb or 65lb?
  23. Ok I did a jam packed study course last night and got the knowledge of how to read these things. so now I’m just looking for reviews of the fish finder you guys have and personally use.
