  1. What’s everyone’s favorite Tk rod for sub-$350?
  2. Would the Bailey swim be too much for 68s and other 2-3 oz softies?
  3. Okuma guide select H/XH or irod large swim/ baileys swim for 8 inch hudds
  4. Mainly throw wakes in the 3-4 oz range, and have been using straight heavy braid since day one. Feel like I might be missing out on some daytime bites and losing some fish due to the lack of stretch braid has, and was considering switching to copoly or mono. Have a couple questions. 1. Is there any benefit of using copoly over mono (how are the two different)? 2. What lb test of copoly or mono would be preferable for that 3-4 oz range? 3. What knot to use? (Been using Palomar for the braid). Thanks in advance.
  5. @Jerkbait22 Yeah, conquest is definitely a bit out of budget, so I’ll probably end up getting the tranx 300 5.8:1. You mentioned the leviathan rod, I plan on throwing 3-6oz wakes, should I go with the omega H or XH? How true is the oz ratings on them?
  6. @OutufbassYeah, it’s gonna. be a pretty much dedicated wake setup so lower gear ratio might be the way to go
  7. @Jerkbait22Thanks for the info, I think i might give that reel a try
  8. Was thinking about picking up a tranx 300 to pair with a leviathan omega xh for wakebaits. What do you guys suggest for a gear ratio? (3-5oz wakes, sherpa, rafa). I've heard lower gear ratios have more torque, making it easier to retrieve the bait, but correct me if I am wrong. Any comments on the reel or any other reels to try would also be appreciated.
  9. @Bassmann86 Ok, Thanks for the opinion
  10. @Bassmann86 Ok, thanks for the input. Does anyone have recommendations on 300 size reels and what gear ratio to use? Shouldn’t be throwing baits much over 6oz. Preferably low profile reels
  11. @Lane44 Thanks for the opinion, I got 2 questions. How well could that rod throw huddlestons and citizens, and what reel and gear ratio would you pair with it?
  12. Hey SU, sorta new to swimbait fishing, and am currently using a Shimano SLX DC 150, paired with a Okuma guide select (1-6oz). looking to upgrade to a bit of a beefier setup, 300 size reel, and an XH (2-8ish oz) rod. A couple rods I had looked at were the Leviathan Omega XH, and the F5 ghost code XH. Some reels I had looked at were the Tranx, Curado K, and Tatula, all 300 sized. I'll be throwing things anywhere from 2oz soft baits to bigger 6, maybe 7oz hard baits. Upgrading because the reel I have right now is pretty small, and I want a rod that I can cast bigger baits more comfortably and accurately and not have to "lob" them as much. Any insight on those rods and reels mentioned or any others anyone had in mind would be appreciated.
