My friend, This is too funny. I'm also brand new and just went through some similar agonizing mental cartwheels. I have no experience with Leviathan rods. I did just get a 966, almost 100% based on Matt Allen's recommendation. I was pretty underwhelmed by it. I fished it for 10 or so hours over two days. I didn't connect with anything about it. I promptly sold it. I also just got a Champion XP 806 that has the "feel" i'm looking for. I hope that helps. Interested to hear what you think once you get it. What reel are you going to pair with it?

Hi Guys, Looking for some advice...I'm building my dream swimbait setup. Going to go with a Tranx 300 but agonizing over the rod. Should i go with pairing it with a Loomis 966 (if i can find one) or a Dobyns 806. Any advice would be helpful. Going to be throwing baits between 2-4 oz. Thanks so much.
