  2. I'm moving this from my initial post in the underground. So I started this project with the intention of making a soft foam or silicone (not plastisol) rat bait. The idea was to make a big bait I could throw into slop. Also most frogs are silent and get blasted so why not silent. Also thought that a soft shallow diving bait would be cool. I'm no artist and can't draw or carve so I would let nature do it by molding an actual rat. Kinda had to go from square one as there is NO info about making a mold of something hairy. First I thawed a frozen feeder rat and then posed it (really gross). Then I refroze. I used smooth-on's body double silk to make the mold but it's sensitive to cold so it took awake to set it up. Made a mother mold of plaster bandages. Removed the rat from the mold after it partially thawed (even grosser). Poured a new master that I could sand/adjust to make a new mold. I also cast a hollow shell and filled with foam for a glide bait. More on that later. The detail came out pretty epic but needs some adjustments before the next mold.
