Recently I've been thinking a lot about baits with a lot of drawing power. Baits that can move fish from the edge of visual range, fifty feet from the very bottom of the water column to inches behind your bait, right at the surface. Baits with that kind of power are indispensable, they can show you fish that you otherwise would have simply passed over. They can also earn you bites from MASSIVE fish.
I know from experience and observing my own fishing that glides usually have the best drawing power, big glides especially. The footage of the pictured bait (Roman Made Chaser) features dozens of large followers. On my local lakes a BigRoid 210 has proven to have the best drawing power. Though I know many anglers are partial to large multi-jointed baits like the Triple Trout and similar.
Though in finding why certain baits "draw" better than others I'm lost. Why is it that some baits draw better than others? what factors and qualities make one bait preform better than another in this aspect? What would a bait with maximum drawing power look like? I'm curious to know what the rest of you have discovered from personal experience, observation, and general knowledge.
