Swimbait302
After 80ish consecutive trips to this pond without a fish over 4lbs, over the course of 14 months, I finally broke the slump with this old sunken eyed beauty. A massive baitfish die off caused by cormorants, otters, and poor pond management forced me to move away from bluegill/shad patterns and chase carp eaters. She ate on the surface in 10ft of water as I was retrieving my 8” SS savage gear pulse tail trout like a swim jig and after a short fight I had her in my hands. In my excitement I forgot to remove the bait before weighing the fish so we’ll call her 4 even, definitely a confidence booster for a pond I dreaded was dead and another piece of the puzzle to unlocking the carp bite.
