Okuma Guide Select A GS‑C‑7111HA Swimbait Rod Reviews...???

I am thinking about getting a Okuma Guide Select A GS‑C‑7111HA Heavy Moderate Fast Swimbait Rod. Looking for reviews and experiences from SBU members.

I am planning on using the rod for mostly inshore fishing in SoCal for halibut, sand bass and spotted bay bass. I am also planning to use it in freshwater for bass and stripers too. I am mainly looking to throw mostly treble hook baits (glides baits, jerkbaits, multi jointed swimbaits, spoons/metal jigs etc) in the 1-4oz range for both saltwater and freshwater fishing.

Its rated 1-6oz. Read some mixed reviews online. Some people are saying 1-2oz is its wheel house and that 4oz is 'pushing it'. Some are saying its a very good rod and can handle 4-5oz fine. Can the rod throw 3-4oz comfortably?

I am planning on using the rod for mostly moving baits with treble hooks. I also like to fish braid to a leader. Therefore, I need a rod that is not too fast so I don't over commit too early and pull the bait when a fish strikes since braid is very sensitive. I also need a rod with a moderate amount of parabolic bend to it so I can keep fish pinned when I do hook them since braid has no stretch. Is the moderate fast action pretty accurate and right on? Does the rod have a moderate amount of parabolic bend to it?

Even though I am planning on throwing mostly treble hook moving baits, I was also thinking about throwing some plastic swimbaits with a jighead on this rod and if it would work 'in a pinch'. Does anyone know if the rod has enough backbone also for driving large heavy jig style hooks on 4-5" plastic swimbaits?

Thanks.

I was hoping to get more replies and reviews but I decided to pull the trigger and buy one today. Good thing I did. Great rod.

I actually got a chance to wet a line and throw a 6" magdraft with the rod right after I bought it. 6" magdraft is light for this rod. Didn't get a chance to throw anything heavier but I can already tell that it can definitely handle 3-4oz no problem.

Love the action for treble hook baits. Very light and well balanced for its length. The build quality is very good with very good components/guides. Very good looking rod too.
