MidwestHooker
Hello all, I know this is a frequent topic- but I'm looking for recommendations on a swimbait set-up pertaining to J hooked soft swimbaits in the range of 2-5 ounces, that could occasionally toss a downsized treble hooked bait. I mainly fish in Northern IL, so Bluegill imitators and baits 5-7 in would be my main deal. I'd love to spend less money, but I'm also aware in this style of fishing, quality is important (and multiple rods may be the reality). For baits, I have Bacca Burritos and Nachos, 6-7.8 in Keitechs, Coalition Gills, Savage Gear 4Plays, Hudds, Pistol Pete's, etc on my mind. I'm also keeping in mind that Pike and Muskie (if I'm lucky) would potentially be caught.
Born 2 fish
I would say the Dobyns 806 would be a good rod to cover your needs pair it with a tatula 200 and your set. I also fish northern illinois and se wisconsin. MidwestHooker
Morph808
Consider the IRod Sniper Swim. A shorter stick but Cesar designed it to fish almost all hit baits from Wade Hoggs to the Wade Frogs. MidwestHooker and B_larkin3
danthefisherman
I have the Shimano SLX 7’8” and think you will like it for what you described. Great bang for the buck! MidwestHooker
