Failure Gill

Thought I would share one of many recent failures. I know what I did wrong but didn’t realize until it was done. I believe the concave portions of the joints were not deep enough to create enough turbulence. The bait had no head movement even with a lip. I tried so many different mods but nothing helped. I am going to try again eventually and hopefully next time it will work. It’s just frustrating cause I carve by hand and it takes so long to finish. I also failed on a duck bait with a prop tail.

Many lipless jointed baits have zero head movement. It's just the natural swim of these style baits. I've made some jointed shad baits with the same issue. Without a lip, the body will move but the head just cuts through water.
