i started with a black 9" slammer as one of my first baits. I now have a black and wood colored 9" slammer and 2 more 9" slammers. Getting a few more too probly. Great bait. Lots of big (and some smaller) bass on them. They all swim differently. 9" slammer is really not that big at all. If you bend it at the hinge and look at the circumference of it, 1.5 lbers have no problems hitting it. CHange the hooks and you are good to go. Gotten bit waking, cranking, deadsticking, twitching. Hard bait to lose too. well worth 40$.

Thanks for the candle wax tip. I've been throwing Slammers for a couple years now, and, turning & fowling during the cast has always been frustrating. I'm a newby on this sight, but, I love that we all stick together by helping each other.
