Destroyer TS Opinions

Hey guys looking for a couple of high end rods for the following applications:

2-5oz glide baits

6-12oz glide baits

I was looking at the following rods, what is your opinion on these specifically if you have casted them and/or owned them only please?

  • TS78X Baccarat: 7'8" Ex-heavy, med-fast, 20-40lb, 4-10oz
  • TS79X Hunting Weapon: 7'9" XX-Heavy, regular taper, 20-40lb, 4-20oz,
  • TS82X Tenchijin: 8'2" XX Heavy, regular taper, 25-45lb, 6-25oz

I'm leaning to to the Baccarat and the Tenchijin, the Baccarat for the lighter applications and the Tenchijin for the heavier stuff.

Or would a TS77X Casino be better for the lighter baits I mentioned?

I really want the heavier rod to be able to throw from a Deps 250 to a Mother or bigger easily and not be under powered.

Also, do you guys know the difference between the Baccarat and the King of Baccarat?

2-5oz I would to TS711X Blackjack and for the 6-12lbs the TS78X+ King of Baccarat over the Baccarart. The TS78X+ has a longer handle over the TS78X. When I had my TS78X+ I was able to toss a 8” rof 5 hudd to a hinkle trout. On your lighter setup if you said you would top out at 4oz I would have said the Cookai CK710EXHC. The blackjack can handle up to a Deps 250.

I've had a bunch of the TS destroyer lineup and the only one I ended up keeping was the Blackjack. It shines in the 2 - 6 oz range with treble hooks.{yes I know the ratings are off). If you skip to about the 18:45 mark in the video I linked he goes into the details of the baccarat and the king. He breaks down a lot of the Megabass lineup as well.

Also thinkin about the hunting weapon and tenchijin for a frenzy and ghost. Wondering if they’re over kill though and maybe the king of baccarat is good enough.

Have you considered the LDC XXH?

I am in a similar boat and I am thinking about the King and the LDC..

I’m actually looking at the SI ldc now kinda leaning towards that. Save some cash over the TS too

Actually, I think you can get the King cheaper from Japan than the XXH LDC.. Just by a few bucks, but still.

Does anybody have weights on the XXH LDC SI and the King of Baccarat?

Also, anybody know what the action of the XXH LDC is?

I can tell you this the LDC is probably going to be a little lighter. The King is 9.7oz for a 7’8” rod. To put it in perspective the Valkyrie World Expedition VKC-80XXH-4 8’ 4pc glass composite rod which is pretty much a 8’ version of the king action and power wise comes in at 9.5oz

I have the latest LDC XXH and I really really like it. It's pretty parabolic and casts incredibly smooth, like the smoothest casting rod I own. Not sure why that is but it is.

However, IMO it's not truly an XXH rod, it feels amazing with a Hinkle Shad 5oz bait, but if I throw the 86 Baits Andromeda 6.2oz bait, it feels slightly over taxed, it throws it but it's at the max of it's range IMO.

Thanks for jumping in! VERY interesting to hear you say that they XXH would be overwhelmed with a 6.5oz+ bait!! I am considering the rod for a Deps 250 rod mainly, but would also would like something heavier (Hinkle trout, 10" Mattlures Hammertail).
