Shine glide saves the day

It’s been a long time since I posted a report. But yesterday I was coming down with a flu given to me by my dear wife as a Valentine’s Day present (thanks sweetie!) so I decided to go to a local lake and at least get some fresh air while messing around with the bass. They’ve been inhaling Alabama rigs the last month but yesterday I couldn’t buy a bite all morning. Everyone was struggling based on the conversations I overheard and had with other guys. It was perfect weather too. Overcast skies, warm (upper 60’s) and minimal breeze. They were out in 11-20’ and on the bottom with not many suspended. Bait was everywhere. I had a shine glide tied on and it’s been one of my go-to glides for years. Cheap, good lookin’, and gets plenty of attention. Not the classiest bait in town, but damn near a sure thing. It saved my afternoon. Didn’t bag any big girls, but I managed a couple of little footballs up to 4.7 lbs. to save the day.
As for the flu, so far, so good. Lots of snot and some coughing, but no fever or body ache like my wife still has.

Diagnosis: if you feel a sickness coming on, GO FISHING!
