Lurejerk
I have been fishing West of DFW because off the floods we have had. I haven't got into any good Black Bass since 5/19 ( because of floods) just Stripers and Hybrids. So I went East to a lake I have herd alot about just never been there. I like this place !!!!! I lost a absolute Pig She broke the Hook off ! She made a fantastic jump so I got to see her WOW. I ended up with my final 5 real close to if not over 25 lbs. Started with the 3:16 Wake Jr. Super Shad because of a good chop on the water 20-25 mph winds on the main lake. Managed 3 solid fish by 9:00am culled two of those later. Moved out 18-20 ft water, fishing the salad after the sun got up good. There was bass busting shad so I broke out the 9" HPH Gliding Gizzard and went to town. Funny thing I had one of the 5lbers hit me jumped got off kept working the bait 20 ft from the hit and bam stuck it again! Persistant Bass for sure. I was done at 12:30 I spent more time driving there and back than I did fishing. Really good to get back in the groove again. Lurejerk
That many good fish took its toll on my HPH Gliding Gizzard. This is fish damage. Closer inspection to get ready again I had to redo it all. 1) Bent up snap 2) Broke Hook 3) Bent Hook 4) Mangled Rings It was worth it ! Great day on the water Chris, I had a hook break off of a Slammer once. From that point on, I have stocked up on FORGED Gama Magic Eye trebles, and, swap out all non forged hooks on ALL my swimbaits. Also, when I can get away with it without affecting the lure action...No Snaps for me, tie direct. Also, got a stockplile of heavy duty triple looped stainless steel split rings used mostly by Muskie fishermen. I feel alot more confident when I feel that I've at least tried to eliminate any week links between me and the fish of a lifetime. Sounds like you are on to some real big fish area's....get ready for that fish of a lifetime when you make that long trip back there, be prepared...good luck.
