carlsbadbassin89
Nothing crazy but here’s the story: I got my rat stuck in some tules earlier in the week and planned on coming back with a longboard to paddle to get it at night since it’s a bird sanctuary and no water contact is allowed. I didn’t really want to because the water is gross and if I’m caught the fine is huge but I’m just sick of losing baits and I love that rat. I have also haven’t been bit there for exactly a week and I was starting to get frustrated and complain. The fish are right there super active and boiling/waking everywhere but seem as if they are running from baits now. So I get my rat back, tie it on, start casting. A few casts in a small mullet or something jumped right by my rat and then bam my rat got smashed! I could tell the fish was a little bit more decent than the 2.5lbers that are usually caught here. Fun fight for sure. The rat was t-boned and had her double pinned. She went 3.6lbs and about 21”. No belly, would of been better if it wasn’t post spawn. I almost chickened out and didn’t go get that bait this morning. Interesting how things work out... FishDr
Way to get the bait back and add some mojo to it. My question is whether you cast it before or after you stashed the longboard. carlsbadbassin89

It's 2 min from my house and I'm actually fishing right next to the road from under a bridge basically so I took the board back to my truck and then grabbed my fishing stuff. Don't want a cop driving by seeing that haha FishDr

On this particular rat I leave them they are good enough and sticky. Once they get dull I will switch to Owner st-41s.
