State record in Florida is 7 pounds and change.  I regularly catch them up to 5 pounds.  They really light up the Gantarel.

This is awesome! I didn’t know they had them in Florida. Maryland state record is 9 lbs. Going to see if I can get a 20” plus one tomorrow.

hate these things but ive caught em up to 25" and just under 6lbs in NY fun fish when they dont cut you off or tear you baits apart

That’s true! they love to trash good baits which is why I use hard glides only now for them

Down here in Arkansas we have a few in Lake Ouachita.  They kind of come and go, you'll catch one every once in awhile some years and then they disappear.  I hadn't caught one there in probably 6 or 7 years and then this year we pulled up on one of my favorite spots for catching bass cruising bream beds with topwater and caught 12 pickerel all a couple pounds a piece in the very back of this little pocket.  We powerpoled down and just kept catching them in such a small area where there was only room for us to take turns casting into the narrow area where they were.  They're a blast on topwater, some of them were coming all the way out of the water on those plugs when they hit it.

Slime darts are everywhere in Mass, pretty much unavoidable when throwing glides. Our state record is 9-5 but typically they stay below 3 to 4 lbs.

Personally I hate the little jerks, always throwing temper tantrums soon as you get them out of the water.

once they get bigger they’re somewhat fun to fight (as long as you don’t have a softbaits on). Here’s my PB.
