Walleye as the first

This walleye right here is the first official swimbait fish of my fishing career! Decided to get into the swimbait game as it looked fun and oh man it is!

Was fishing a dam with some friends and they were joking around with me talking about how nothing would even come close to my lure since it was so big. After chucking and winding for thirty minutes or so I feel a small pull and set the hook. I bring this guy in and begin to lose my mind and kept shouting at them "You saw that right? Tell me you saw that!". I was literally shaking from the excitement (and the fact that I was freezing). Seriously looking forward to catching more. So much fun.

Sorry for the awkward pictures, I was quite far from my friends and too busy freaking out to get any good photos. Really wanted to make sure that I got it with the hook in its mouth to show my dad (who is not a believer in big baits) that the fish really did eat the lure.

Thanks for reading! Tight lines

I was fishing a river last summer, the river is known for its salmon fishing so it was packed. Anyway, we had floated down in the boat for a mile or so and I had so many guys bashing me for fishing a swimbait in good salmon waters. Jokes on them I caught my limit of walleye on a shine glide while they were breaking off and fighting each other for those half dead salmon.

Walleye, especially big walleye, will engulf swimbaits. Welcome to the dark side of walleye fishing!

Good to see another person throwing swimbaits in CO!

There are a few of us around — most of us keep a pretty low profile — that way you don’t get whacked by an errant fly rod.

I’ve been throwing swimbaits since about ‘06 and going after walleye with them since ‘09.  If you’re out fishing for ‘eyes one night and you hear what sounds like bricks been thrown in the water every 30-50 seconds, it might be me.:-D
