Hello, I'm a High School student who has used a majority of this school year to create a project based around the issues involving Fish Farming. I thought this forum would be a great place to look for feedback and to reach out to a community of individuals who I think is pretty safe to say eat seafood. I have designed a "suspended collections system" which is an attachment under the cage that is used to collect the waste that falls through the bottom of the cage. You can check out my design at https://filteredfarming.weebly.com/. Eutrophication and Dead Zones under these aquaculture cages are a growing problem that is detrimental to the surrounding ecosystem. It can create holes of oxygen uninhabitable for native fish life. Aquaculture is one of the fastest growing industries in modern day. And not only does it affect the sustainability of the industry but it affects the quality of your fishing. Just to clarify this is not for any financial gain or personal benefit, this is just a school project.
