Vertical vs. Horizontal line tie for glides

In my experience I have found it makes little to no difference especially if you are tying to a split ring or snap. I do prefer horizontal because it looks cleaner to me, but vertical is easier to tune in case your bait isn't running true.

With a horizontal line tie, you have more space for error. For example if it is not perfectly centered, it might not glide the same to each side, or it might not retrieve straight to you. But if it is horizontal, the knot can move one way or the other to find the perfect center. This is also why crankbaits and similar factory made baits come with a split ring. It has the same effect.

That is all just my theory, and might not even be true. Just what I have gathered...
