chefchris
Wanted to share these as they’ve both been incredibly useful tools. first off is the TIPU Marking Center Finder. I’ve been using it to mark my flat stock for gills, super easy to use, and no more measuring. They make two sizes a small which measures up to 2-2/5” and a medium with does up to 4”. I grabbed a few mini golf pencils and put one wrap of painters tape on it to keep it snug. I found that having something to push the board against its super helpful and basically you can do it with one hand, took me like 3-4 passes before I had it dialed it with how much pressure to able while moving it. I also started using it on my lathe turned blocks as well to mark the ends, so I can draw center lines on turned baits for joint and lip cuts. This is from their website. · The novel design allows great smooth gliding on the board, and protect your working fingers from burrs. · Perfect for determining exact centers on the edges of boards with steady and high speed making. · Mark centers on boards up to 2-2/5 Inch in thickness or width. · Constructed of stainless steel, durable and easy to use. · Pencil not Included, #2 2B pencil is recommended. chefchris
This tool I’ve been using for 10 years, super fast and easy way to mark you centers for lathe turned pieces/dowels. Veritas Center Marker, like a $25 item and basically will last forever. put your piece of wood on it, hold it against the sides and give a tap with a rubber mallet, turn a quarter and repeat. Then flip it over and repeat. if the piece isn’t square you have to turn and hit it 4 times and it will leave you a blank spot for the center. this is from the website. Precision aluminum die casting with steel scoring blade Set material in marker, tap it and rotate a quarter turn and tap again; result is two scoring lines that intersect at exact center Accurate to 1/12 of a degree CaliBassin, El_Weruso, azsouth and 4 others

Thanks Chef Thanks man, when i started building baits in 2008 everything was shared and people were helpful (besides keeping some secrets to yourself) I mean you had to dig around and look thru a lot of threads and post, but so much info was out there. So if I can share some things I found or tips I’ve learned to maybe give someone a little help or share a cool piece of equipment i like trying to do that. surfk9 and VolunteerSwimbaits
jthod
great tools. Thanks for the insight. I think I'll pick one up for my old man for Christmas. He'll love it for the woodshop.
Bmurr7
These are slick! Thanks for the info man,! I'm just starting to get a collection of woodworking/bait building tools going, I'm a mechanic so I have already a tool addiction but this is fairly new territory for me so this type of post is much appreciated.
