  1. Toad measured 25x20in, on the Bass calculator 12.25. It definitely beat my last PB which was 9lbs from 2014. Special Thanks for Chefchris for letting me test out his new rat build. These Rats are rock solid and have drawing power.

  3. 3 piece saw some solid action this weekend Had a 3-8 and 4-4 on back to back cast, along with 5 other fish thru the night in the 2.5-3lb range. Thought the 4 was going to be bigger based on the hit and fight but I’ll take it. They did a weed kill at my go to pond sometime in the last 3 weeks and my pattern was gone, wind was almost nonexistent too which isn’t ideal. The fabric tail only lasted 1.5 trips before the material was being pulled down so back to the pink trick worm

  6. Number one bucket list fish is now checked off! Caught it off a point casting on to some rocky areas. Barely fit in the net and somehow inhaled the bait and didn’t get through my 20 lb leader. So thankful for this fish. Length - 38 inches girth - 17 inches

    First Deps 250 fish!

Went fishing for an hour after work, and only carried my deps 250 in chartreuse and a triple trout to test (Added tons of weight to get casting distance to fish for yellowtail). Never have had the confidence in the 250, just could never seem to get enough followers or biters. Glad to catch this one to give me some confidence in the bait, it was a silent killer turned to a Slide swimmer then tuned by defeesha. Where i suspected a fish would be i made a super long cast past the point then i brought my 250 to the structure i had my eye on (Which was a round bend of cattails) once i got the bait close enough to the bend i made the bait do a long glide out as if the bait was swimming away from the bending (As if being chased) and she came out only to swirl on the bait and turn away but stared at it a few inches from the bait. Then one more glide but this time a sharper glide (Fast reel crank) in the other direction with a pause and she slammed it. Such a cool bite, i wish i could get better pictures but the lady who took the pic had to wrestle her 2 big Labradors as she took my picture. Grateful to of gotten the pic at all with no one else around haha

  15. Hey so just got off work today and some how completely resolved the issue, so everything above in my post was the situation before today, when going through all the evidence I had so that I could contact PayPal and try and get resolution there I found his phone number. He was quick to pay me back although he didn't pay fees so I lost 8 dollars overall but no big deal, he made it sound like he never heard back from megabass or somehow thought I got the rod.... Idk I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, just seems odd he never followed up after he told me he would and was just hanging on to my money

  17. Never lost anything crazy. I’ve cast off a couple new 250s, one was when they were newer to the market and I paid $160 for it. But nothing sentimental to me fortunately. Never lost a floating bait that I can remember. Hung up a pats and had to break it off. Ended up snagging it the next day and got it back. Cast off a nez xl and had to wait like 15 til it blew back in to where I could catch it with another bait. Broke off dozens and dozens of weedless hudds...6”, 68 and 8” to pickerel and rock piles. A hudd in the cabbage in summer is a pickerel magnet! Also lots of Swavers and realpreys in the rocks too.

  18. Nice fish and sweet bait! I also am fishing alone 99 percent of the time and have learned a trick that works pretty good. Prop your phone up on a rock or your bag and Just flip the camera to selfie mode and take a video holding the fish. Then later you can screenshot the best pics.

  20. This is a very good topic. I am not brand new to swimbait fishing but have only thrown them for a couple years. I have been dedicating more trips to throwing solely swimbaits. One thing I have noticed is I have a certain style of baits I plan on throwing each trip and I stick to that. May be 1 bait or could be 3 baits. It’s my style. It’s what keeps me interested when chucking baits for hours possibly with no bites. I do have some of the most recent popular baits. Some I have confidence in because I have been bit on, some I don’t have confidence in yet because either I have not thrown them much or have not been bit. I think what we have to realize is that we should look at the conditions we are fishing before we go out and use that info to pick the baits. If it is more likely you will get bit on top then bring a wake style. If you think fishing a little below the water column then bring a slow/ fast sink. Swimbait fishing can be slow and boring but picking baits for the conditions obviously will make things more fun..

  23. This is a great topic that could help a lot of guys out there. I think we have all had this thought a time or two on the water. What really opened my eyes was the cast and crank podcast with Matt Peters. At one point Matt said something along the line of, all you really need is a ms slammer, slide swimmer, triple trout, and a hudd. These baits may not be your confidence baits, but the concept can apply to every swimbaiter. Get a wake, glide, multi-jointed, and soft plastic that you have the most confidence in and learn everything possible about those baits. It’s a simple concept but it is so easy to get caught up in the hype of a new bait. Just because somebody can market a bait doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you and your style of fishing. And like Grady said, there is something special about standing out from the crowd and being confident in what you’re throwing.

  26. That strike is burned into my brain. Was swimming the Rat very slowly and just killed it the deeper water. She shot straight up with the rat all the way in her mouth and clearing its body length. I immediately though, "Dang this is a Toad". She landed and turned pulling tight. I set the hooks hard and winched. She jumped twice and got her in. Just Awesome.

  33. I think @High Power Swimbaits hit the bullseye with the word, 'conditioned'. Also, I believe that large bass are not necessarily 'lazy', but something more akin to 'wary'.

  36. I've lost a few Hudds, including two on one night about an hour apart (I quit after that), one that I hung up on a sandy flat, perhaps on a mooring anchor or abandon anchor rope, the other when the line shredded halfway through the cast (weirdest thing I've ever seen). The most valuable lure I've lost was my original swimbait, a 7" MS Slammer in Light Rainbow, about 11 years ago. I had been fishing it for about a year, and after 3 or 4 trips had started catching fish on it in good numbers, so it was building mojo. Then I decided to take my daughter, 1.5 years old at the time, fishing with me. I had her in the Kelty kid backpack and she was chattering away as only a happy 1.5 year old can. We'd spotted a couple of mountain goats (okay, she'd spotted them first) and lots of ducks and geese and she was enjoying watching the Slammer sail out and then come wriggling back. And then I put it onto a floating mooring buoy. It was only about 30' off shore and when I pulled judiciously I could move it about 5' towards me, but there was no getting in the water, not with my daughter. So, I took a double wrap of line using a rag, flipped the sun and rain shield up on the kid carrier, and broke the line. I did go back the next day with my 'toon, but the lure was gone. Hopefully someone got good use out of it. There was, however, a silver lining. I placed an order for a new 7" Slammer the next day and on the spur of the moment added a 9" Slammer. I still have both, and if you look really carefully through the bass scars and hook rash you can see that they are also light trout Slammers. The kids refer to them as the Super Slammers and they literally have hundreds of fish to their credit. When I lose those, it's going to be a sad day.

  42. I've never liked the term "smart" but to say it's by chance I think is wrong. Smart to me implies they see a bait and analyze every aspect of it and cross-reference it in their memory bank with every other bait they've ever seen to see if it's real or not. I don't think they do that. BUT if it was purely chance they got that big then on the lakes that get slammed every weekend these fish are seeing just as many lures as the aggressive 1lbers see and I think there's gotta be something that differentiates them. I've always subscribed to the "lazy" theory, that they don't expend any energy they don't absolutely have to and learn this as they grow bigger and older as a habit. This immediately makes them harder to catch for most fisherman that are just chucking and winding and don't have a strategy to target these fish in key areas, since they aren't gonna spend the energy to chase down small lures unless they're right in front of their face. The swimbait IMO get better odds because it's now worth it to them to chase down a bigger meal. That's how I reason it out, but what do I know.

    Finding your own style

You can do literally everything by the books and totally suck. In today's world the only advantage you can have is to stand out from the crowds and put a little extra confidence into each of your casts. Good topic!

  48. Well put the albino to the test and I’d say it’s pass with flying colors fished a newer pond from 1am to 8am fishing was great, for myself and my fishing partner all the fish from 2.5lbs to the biggest at 4lbs 2oz, Scott had the biggest fish of the night which at boat side in of the most aggressive hits I’ve ever witnessed. I had 14 fish on the rat and a very aggressive crappie eat it on the surface, buddy had 12 fish on my 3 piece slammer/pats clone wake. A lot of the fish came on the twitch and pause type retrieve, or wake it for a few few feet, pause, twitch and then hook up. at one point we went 7 casts in a row with fish in the boat. They were all sitting on or around these submerged weed beds/lines. Got to see some epic eats, a few where the fish actually came up and over the rat like how Caesar mentions in his video. It was so good that 1 point we were actually calling the cast and fish, like I’m going to cast right there and get a fish, boom fish on. I dropped or missed 8-12 fish and he missed about the same, if we had connected on all those fish we would of had close to 50 fish in the boat. Thats scott in the pics (I don’t show my ugly mug that often!) going back to tonight to target a different section of the lake with the same type of weed/weed lines
