porkmeatballs and 13 others reacted to Dabbs for a topic
First time out in the kayak in a couple years. Forgot how hard it is to land a deps 250 fish with no net, lol. This one went 10.73. From northern Ca on a deps 250 natty trout. I was solo and felt like I took horrible pics I have probably 50 more if you don’t think these are sufficient14 points -

Just a vintage 9" Slammer video from a few years back. A modest fish, even by CO standards, but it was fun to find this video and figured it would be worth sharing.6 points

Stuck this 6-6 on the Real wood lures crank in crappie. Had good couple hours with a few 3s, a 4-14 and this girl.6 points -
Hey guys i'ts been quite a long time since i posted anything in here but i figured i'd try to start sharing my projects here again. I have a few swimbaits in the works now but lets start with a triple carp. This one is loosely based on a glider i made a few years ago. It was a big ass chunky bait and even thought pretty, it was a bit on a heavy side so i knew foing into this project i wanted to do something thats a bit more user friendly. So far these are the colors i came up for the pre orders i launched last week. The specks for the triple carp are 8.6" and 6.8oz5 points

First UFO fish
Primus and 3 others reacted to prizmshallow for a topic
Purchased a wake gill our at the Swimbait invasion event a month or so ago. Finally dedicated some time to throwing it and put together a decent morning at the local ponds. First fish came in just over 4lbs and couple more to cap it off. Going to be hard to put this bait down after watching it get smashed! IMG_9375.HEIC4 points -
Its going to be interesting to see what happens to sales from China to the USA (and the world in general). The virus was definitely not a made-in-the-lab creation. However there is increasing information that the Wuhan biolab was investigating bat coronaviruses. The media has recovered since-deleted job openings postings there for scientists to work on such viruses. If it did come from there I believe it was an accidental leak, much like the 2 earlier SARS leaks from Chinese labs. It is crystal clear that the Chinese government covered up the outbreak until it got too big to conceal. There is no way China will ever tell the world exactly what happened. A year from now will it be business as usual with buying from China? Unfortunately lots of folks are still going to buy from the cheapest source. I think the only way we significantly move away from China is if the US government puts something like a 100% tariff on all Chinese goods. That would drive people to buy from other cheap labor countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, Mexico, etc. and would also give the USA a better shot at selling our own manufactured goods to our citizens. It will be interesting to see if Trump or Biden along with Congress has the balls to do this.4 points

The 7inch shad and 8.5 soft tails do have different actions. They have different hinge designs as well. But the soft tail trouts have a wider glide and require less line pickup to swim so they are overall more "touchy". Imo they excell when fished slow. The shad is a tighter action and seemed to catch em better the faster I fished it.3 points

Briant N. and one other reacted to bassfiend72 for a topic
Let me start by admitting to purchasing Chinese made lures. Accessories. Well everything that has to do with my fishing passion. I am in the market some new rods. I was thinking I don’t really have a choice do I? Rod accessories still will most likely come from a company that uses chinese factories. I believe even Fuji uses chinese factories. Of course these times gets me thinking about trying to support the USA. Really I am at fault for not trying to do this more in the past.2 points -
Hudd 68
FishDr and one other reacted to monsterpondbass for a topic
Every year I learn the hard way..... my style of fishing is to fish fast and cover a lot of water. The temperature has been very inconsistent here and we have had many cold fronts.... When all else fails....... just throw the Hudd68! It was like she hasn’t eaten all week!2 points -
Post frontal, windy and cold. Got her on a top hook trout Hud 68. I was pitching it around a wind blown bank and some surrounding wood. Set the hook and busted my ass but managed to keep enough pressure on her thankfully... the woes of bank fishing. Absolutely choked it. Weighed in at 4.82. Not gonna cut it in the tournament but I figured it was worth a post.2 points

Friend recommended tracking one of these down, got one shipped over from Japan. Multi jointed bait that just kind of flaps right on the surface. Spent some time throwing it the other night and was able to stick a decent one. Going to need to do some repairs on this bait since the fish blew out the bill on it...1 point -
Petition against NY DEC
168 Rookie reacted to brinkerhoff150 for a topic
I get that this sucks but let’s think about this a bit more. Everyone is off or working from home etc. This means that normally quiet ramps have much higher use which isn’t good. Let’s say that’s not an issue. What do you need to propel your boat? So now everyone is going to the gas stations to fill their boats / grab supplies. More contact with people and surfaces that are rarely cleaned. Okay, you’re special and have a stockpile of gas and plenty of snacks, you going out alone or maybe with your best bud? You’ll stay 6 feet away? More contact with people. Maybe you go out solo but now there are lots of people out on the water. What if there’s an accident? There’s already strain on healthcare workers and first responders and they now need to divert attention to a boater. Keep in mind lots of these people, especially in New York are in the city helping out. As people have mentioned, these normally quiet areas are becoming packed. If you keep the northern NY waters open all that will do is incentivize people to travel - say people from NYC where there are thousands of cases. Of course the message is coming from a politician that you may love or hate. Hopefully they are getting sound information from public health officials. Yes this all really sucks but it’s a complicated scenario.1 point -

tHeINFamoUS reacted to David Cindrich for a topic
A little clip Tom made of one of many fish caught this day. If ya notice the reeling before the hook set, it what was needed this day to get the hook in the fish. All day long the bass would just eat the Dream Smasher 6" Shad and swim towards deeper water. We missed a few fish in the wind but over all it was a great outing. Old footage but he is now sorting thru tons of footage.1 point -
