Seems like there have been some scammers lately. There have been 2 types 1. Long time members with good reputations from previous transactions. These guys are posting baits only taking PayPal friends and family and selling the same bait multiple times and never sending it to anybody. 2. New members answering WTB ads via PM saying their friend is selling please send them the money. (we have disabled PMs for new members as a result) SOLUTION: PAY WITH GOODS AND SERVICES ONLY. Any ads posted saying friends and family only will be deleted no matter how long the member has been here.10 points -

I’ve been reading this thread for a couple of days and simply observing. Here’s where I’m at. If SU makes a rule, changes a rule or whatever…it’s their decision and we can follow it or leave. It’s that simple. I haven’t been as active this year simply because life happens and my family is more important than swimbaits or fishing. That said, here’s my take on SU in general. We were all new at some point. I didn’t come here to buy or sell baits. I wanted to connect with a community of other guys who sling big baits. No matter how long you’ve been chunking them, there’s always room to learn new things. A lot of the custom baits I own now weren’t even on my radar until I joined this community. I’m no expert and will never claim to be. But over time, I’ve been able to help some members out on here with everything from knots and retrieves to tuning baits. But I’ve received four times that amount of help from others on here. And over time, I started making friends that I would have never known without taking part in discussions SU. A lot of us talk, text and communicate outside of SU. And it’s not always about baits. Just life in general. That’s what friends do. And yes, when I discovered the BM, I started buying baits and trading baits as needed. I’ve sold plenty as well. But I’ve also bought and sold from those same friends outside of SU. We’ve always payed F&F both ways and that’s just how it will always be for those guys. And there are some truly amazing members on here who have hooked me up in ways you’ll never see happen on the BM. So the biggest thing about SU for me is the camaraderie. The friends I have made and what I’ve learned in my time here. You all know who you are. That about sums up all I have to say on this matter. Tight Lines9 points -

Gentlemen, I think the goal is for new members to become an active member within the S.U. Community, an establish themselves as a member and then be granted your P/M privileges. This is not a e-commerce site. This is a community of swimbait enthusiasts. Fortunately, it does offer a “Black Market” where you can buy, sell and trade at your own risk. Personally I think a new member should earn a defined amount of “Reputation Points”, showing they are an active member before being granted access to Buy, Sell & Trade here. It helps protect both new members and establish members. My recommendation : sit back, get involved, get established and partake in what is offered to you. Trust me, all good thing come to those who wait. Cheers & Tight Lines Everyone.9 points -

CALLING ALL NEW YORK STICKS!!!
Jim137a and 5 others reacted to LabRatsFishing for a topic
What’s up underground! Me and a good buddy are headed out to upstate New York as we did last year. Came across some great fishing but it took A LOT of research / trial and error to dial in a few zones. Nonetheless we had some great fishing as you see below! But, I’m curious if any of you sticks in that zone have any insight into where we may find some fish. We’re gonna dedicate a lot of it to smallmouth and largemouth. Striper the first few days. Down by the inlets of Long Island or the Hudson River… can’t decide. Would love some insight there. And we will be doing some brown fishing at an absolute dream area im Not to sure many people know about lol! to sum it up I would love any words of wisdom on where to trek. Maybe specific zones or body’s of water that you guys have had some success at in the past. Last year was fun visiting and doing some fishing but this year it’s grind time! Thanks guys6 points -

Almost all the other forums I used or still use always required new members to have a certain number of post and/or be a member for a certain number of days before being able to sell/buy and/or pm other members, plus only one account from each IP address. I’ve never seen a black market/bst run the way it’s done here either. every other forum needs a price posted, and the first “i take it” in the thread gets the bait. Everything is out in the open. I remember finding that out the hard way when I joined here and missing out on a ton of baits. And all the back door deals. But that’s how the SU forum is run and handled so it is what it is. Just much different than all other forums I’ve used. the recent uptick in scammers is crazy. With everyone blowing baits out super cheap lately it’s easy prey for scammers or even old members to capitalize on people (which seems to also be happening) Luckily I’ve never been beat only by UPS and USPS5 points -

I have an easy fix for this problem as far as I’m concerned: if I know you well enough as an established and respected SU member then I’m choosing to buy from you without involving the IRS. I’m on texting basis with many of you anyways. Also I’m only selling to the established SU members I know well from now on to keep the buying/selling transactions as a benefit to those who stay here long enough with respect, transparency and accountability. Buying and selling on SU should be a privilege and not a right for everyone. If you haven’t done time with us you’re not doing crime with us….. I have spoken!5 points -

I recently found a small public lake that’s close to me, which is nice because NOTHING is near where I live. The Denali has been flat out getting it done for me here lately. If you haven’t tried them, I’d definitely recommend giving them a shot. Very cool bait that gets bit or atleast for me here in Texas! I wanted to attach more clips, but I believe they’re too large of a file size and I keep getting an Error -200 code. If anyone knows how to get around that, please let me know! IMG_6480.MOV4 points -

No. I highly doubt the IRS is going to take our word for it. So, I think what LowSpinner said here is pretty accurate. But if you don’t wanna have to pay taxes on all those sales, I suspect they’re gonna want receipts. We all gonna start asking for receipts when we buy baits from each other? It’s so dumb. Billion dollar corporations committing tax fraud all over the world and they need to hassle people making $600 on swimbaits that have ALREADY BEEN TAXED when it was bought from the maker or retailer. Dumbest ish I ever saw4 points -

I was one of those "it's cheatin" guys till recently but when active target 1 went on sale I bought it with a 9" live graph and it certainly is a great tool to have. No more wasting time casting where the fish "should" be and actually casting to fish. I will say, just because they are there doesn't mean they will eat. It gets frustrating and I often waste time trying to figure out how to get inactive fish to bite. The fish obsessed mount is a must have in my opinion also. It has a zero offset so the transducer isn't tilted like the stock mount.3 points

Livescope or other FFS?
mooseknuckles and 2 others reacted to 119bowhunter for a topic
It is not magic, it does not catch fish for you...but it is an amazing tool... I owe tons of fish catches and tournament wins to it that I would not have had without it The biggest things I have learned are how many fish there actually are in my lakes, how often you have followers you never see (sometimes it’s almost every cast) and how many fish there are that don’t follow “typical” fish behavior...can’t tell you how many I’ve caught swimming randomly out over deep water with no structure or anything anywhere nearby, without it I would’ve never known to cast over there3 points -

It has completely changed the way I fish (in a good way). I owe several big fish to Mega Live; including this 10lb, 9lb 4oz and 8lb 8oz. I watched all of them eat on Live and wouldn't have caught them without it.3 points -

One of those first summer grinds where you’re out there for almost 4 hours with one bite but that one bite is a 5.13 lber!! Used the wide lip and v tail in crank mode this past winter and it worked again in the same spot!! Crazy to see this bite in 40-50 degree warmer weather!!3 points -

This is the correct answer. Maybe ask some people some questions or post some got ‘em catches to get your name out there, people will remember you and that’s called establishing a reputation, just like real life, you don’t just walk in the door and start swinging your dick around when you start a new job right? Same idea.3 points -

I agree, this system just means that it takes slightly more effort to scam. If people are getting scammed by accounts that were just created with 0 rep, imagine what will happen when every account on SU has some type of rep at minimum. Can’t imagine things would be a whole lot better lol2 points -

Got a lot of rain so walked to the backside of the work pond I had been avoiding it because it was like 2-3 feet deep and didn’t look “fishy”. Was pitching the tk with the transfer tail down next to some trees and got a little guy to come out. I was 5 minutes late but managed to get one fish before work and it was worth it to me. Helps that I can just slap the gear in the back of the car and jog to the back door of the kitchen lol.2 points -
For years I’ve said there shouldn’t be eBay style “make me offers” in the Black Market. You have a prove in mind? Ask it! And I’ve also never understood why f&f is used by so many. For a couple extra bucks, just use g&s for everyone’s protection. It’s not complicated. Then again, nobody asked me.2 points
