I took my Native Ultimate FX12 with side mounted motor out for the first time this morning. I run a Newport kayak motor on a railblaza transom motor mount attached to each of my rails behind my seat. I counterweight the motor with a 100ah lithium on the opposite side of the kayak. Up front I have a 6” Garmin running off a 54ah lithium, also counterweighting the motor. It runs better than I imagined. It tracks straight and turns on a dime. I was able to mark structure and pull a quick U turn and stay right on top of it. I was able to troll at a max of 3.7 mph. No fish today, but the shakedown was a smashing success. Tight lines everybody.

Got out this afternoon. First swimbait fish of the year. Only got one decent one near the end of the trip off a wind blown point. She hit a DS customs slow sink 3 piece swimmer. She went 5-9. Didn’t fish many swimbaits, mostly convention gear. IMG_3198.mov

7lbs 5oz caught on the Baitsanity Chimera Shad this morning. CA

I had something similar with the back end on one of mine. It was a slow leak and eventually took on more water. the pin hole was on on the seam on the top. I drilled out the hole with a 1/32 drill bit by hand. I used compressed air in a can and kept blowing into it and letting it sit for a day until it was totally dry. Filled the hole with marine epoxy and it was as good as new.

Sounds like a leak to me. There should be no condensation or water droplets inside. No other way for moisture to get inside

It’s sounds stupid but it’s the same method I use to find a small leak in a tire. Mix up some dish soap in water and spray on the bait. If you squeeze the bait gently between your thumb and forefinger a couple bubbles will form at the hole. Wipe it off and mark it with a sharpie before you forget where it is.

i would go on YouTube and check out his videos on the baits but normally most of his baits run either size 1 or 1/0 hooks i know it use to be st -36 and now i believe they are the swimbait underground hooks. now on most of his baits he himself uses a lot of the st-56 and he will recommend those in a lot of the videos as well.

I caught three sevens on fork yesterday on a 8” rising sun. I was with a guide so I didn’t know if they’d count so I didn’t take pics of scale, bait, or length. Here is one of them I caught (right) with my dad’s 6 pounder. Found them blowing shad up out of the water on a point.

I sat on this bait for awhile, because everyone had a shad bait. I decided to pull it out of the box and semi finish it. I ended up carving scales for the first time on a full bait. I think it came out pretty damn good. It's 6.5" no tail and pretty skinny. Lots of options when it comes to making a bait. I'll definitely try and get it to crankdown, maybe as a 3 piece, along with an erratic glide. But 2 people have said maybe a big ass lipless for stripers. We shall see! First pour came out great, even threw some swivel hangers in hoping it's where I want the hooks to hang from. Worst case I cut them and drill in a screw eye as I test. Updates as I progress!
