  1. We had a freak storm blow through yesterday that had tornadoes and 60 degree rain with it. It melted all the ice at Lake of the Ozarks so I decided to get a days fishing in before it iced back over. Got to the lake and the air was 29 degrees and the water was 34 and clear. Started off throwing a 6" SBT. Kept getting hit but couldn't get the hooks to stick. After that, I decided to see if I could stick some wakebait fish in these low temps. Got the first one after a few casts. Wound up landing 7 and farmed a couple nice ones. All the bass landed were between 14" and 16". So no need to post more than one pic, lol. Had to clear my guides every other cast and my levelwind every cast because they kept loading up with ice! It was still the best way to ring in the New Year ever!
  2. My first "swimbait" was a 2x4 that I carved into a 12" trout back in the 80's. Caught some good fish at Casitas on those. My first purchased swimbaits were the original Castaics and AC Plugs.
  3. Nice one, congrats! Persistence pays off!
  4. Happy New Year, everyone! My goal, this year, is to get a big smallie in the river on a swimbait and to beat my Missouri LMB PB.
  5. It's a nice fish but it's sickening how he keeps all the big ones!
  6. There is a trout fly that comes in an 8 and 10 inch model.....could be fun in a "fly only" lake.
  7. That is beyond sick, Ben!
  8. I've noticed that clear line reflects light in clear water, causing it to shine pretty bright. I haven't noticed it with the low-vis green lines so I stick with the green.
  9. Those are some nice fish, congrats!
  10. 27 Congrats, Nico! That fish was a BEAST!
  11. Merry Christmas to all the Underground!
  12. North Carolina's state record is 15 lbs 14 oz.
  13. Many people fish trout swimbaits in waters that have never seen trout and are quite succesful.
  14. Those poor west coasters don't know what they are missing!
  15. Which lake and what time of year? I might be down for a Spring or Summer event at Toledo Bend.
  16. I have one surviving pic of a big spotted bass I caught on a Castaic swimbait. I only have this one because I used it as an avatar, so it was online. Sorry for the crappy quality and it being so small. The fish is a 7lb spotted bass.
  17. Ben, fish don't care if you get wet.
  18. If you're kayaking, ALWAYS have a floater or wakebait out behind you. While you're stopped and casting, you have the ultimate deadstick action going on. Be prepared for some big blow ups when you move from spot to spot!
  19. A Baby Wake in Ayu or Trout.
