Deps 250 Help, I am probably just f**ked

Unfortunately, Im not one to trust one line of epoxy to hold a good fish seeing as its not through wired as mentioned above... What you could try is after epoxing it, take a small patch of stainless mesh and use screws to attach it on either side of the break. This would be similar to how orthopedic surgeons fix badly fractured bones. It might be worth a shot! -

Try a swim jig with a keitech fat swing impact 4.8 off of it. Gets the action of a swimbait in a more compact profile. If you pull that through some of the grass you might get some good fish.

I like "Fishhead" its not necessarily very practical for swimbaiting but for surf fishing and fly fishing its very useful. You can get up to date river flows and tides as well as moon phases, baro pressure, temps, winds and pretty much anything you would want for fishing on it.

Got to have a nice long talk with Jerry one day after crashing his secret dungeon aka shop where he makes his baits. He said this was one of his best swimming baits and would most definitely outfish the BV3D but people have more confidence in the BV because its prettier. I even got to play around with the original mold.

Has anyone actually seen a bass whose jaw has been dislocated by holding it VERTICALLY by the jaw? I have held countless fish this way and I have seen many huge bass without any issues after being released, yet it seems every video or big fish picture there are people on youtube or facebook saying "well i bet that fish died from a broken jaw now." I am beginning to believe that this is just an old wives tale told by people who are jealous of the large fish in question but if there's actual evidence out there I will change my mind. To me it seems to not make physiological sense... in a vertical position the jaw is open to a little past 90 degrees and the weight is transmitted straight down the jaw line to the body. And considering a bass can open its mouth almost 180 degrees i dont see how this can dislocate a jaw. Note, im not talking about holding a bass horizontally out by the jaw only as I can see this being harmful.

I thought it was a good idea to cut it off,but I guess I was wrong.... just to clarify.. 8 inch ones always cut it off. 6 inch its debatable whether it matters and its less reliable.

The marina has a nice 4 foot fence to dead lift fish over and a pathway with a brick trim, so in a way yes a brick shoreline.

How much do you want to pay is the real question... Id say you could, in the current market, go upwards of 300 and seem reasonable but it depends on the seller as well. There was a time when I would have said 500 wouldnt have got you the bait but things seemed to have calmed down a little.

osprey made a hardbait a few years ago that was just what you were looking for. Its approximately 7 inches and floated but dove down to about 5-8 feet if you cranked it. It fished a lot like a giant 4 joint crankbait. I sold mine a while ago and havent seen one since but if you could find one that would be exactly what you want.

About half of the fish I get to hit the RS do not really demolish the bait. They hit solid enough to feel a nice thunk but they either gum the middle section or the tail and do not get the hook. The other half swallow the head and get hooked easily. Its just a matter of getting a lot of hits and connecting on some with patience.

If you have a net you can do what a lot of fly fishing guides do, and that is zero the scale beforehand and then just weigh the fish, net and all by hooking the scale to the net. No holes in the fish and you don't have to handle it.

Crazy cool stories! Ive had a gull, a duck and a cormorant but no raptors thank god. fingers crossed. Those are some great shots by those birds though! Right through the spine that would have paralyzed that trout instantly. Amazing predators.

Great info guys! I agree on both the wake baits and moonrise and set as being very important.

Pretty much just take a knife, open the body and remove the foam head. Take out the weight harness and epoxy a swimbait hook to the harness so it sits in the cavity made by the foam head and mend it the thing back together. I know that's not super descriptive but it's pretty easy to figure out. I might do a how to once if I perfect the design.

I think bass are just as much creatures of habit as humans are. There are a few spots out on my home lake that i know have fish and are pretty predictably the same ones too. I know that i have caught a certain fish with a messed up jaw in the same spot at least 3 times and another with a bad eye in a particular spot a few times as well. Its like getting reunited with an old friend each time
