  1. just emailed him nicely, and stayed supportive thru his 'troubles', he gave me an extra bait, and lie i said they swim very nice, not a 3;16 paintscheme or hinges but nice bait altogether, we where shooting for a big suspending striper bait and that's what i got .
  2. got mine a couple a weeks ago after a looong wait.... swim good, gonna repaint it a little. email: John Kustel nice guy seem to have some 'life' trouble
  3. i did it w my 'real deal', flattened out some drop shot weights and molded them tight to the body and epoxy'd them under the bait, looks ugly, fishes very well, i made mine a 'heavy floater', i'm catching more fish and cast the bait a lot further still wanting to paint the ugly grey epoxy but fish doesn't seem to care.... and no i'm not a swimbait collector, i fish mine....
  4. I always felt that the 8-inch floater had a nice "slither" on the surface and presented a decent profile while not creating as much racket as the Wake Jr. I found the floater Real Deal being my choice for calmer conditions with flatter water. i 2nd that, its get a little 'lost' when theres a bunch of wind, i'm usually slap it then a bit more. i modded mine to make it into a 'heavy' floater, i always felt it 'sitting' to high, but i'm now very happy w the resulting float (very low!). its a bait that calls up big fish from the depths, i have no problem fishing it over 30 to 40 ft of (albeit clear) water, funny thing is : smallmouth seem to love it !, even fish that's barely a couple pounds, and as w a lot of 3:16's you get a lot of 'lookers' that hard to convert into 'biters', tho 'fig 8 ting' sometime entices them.. great bait, alltho mickey considers it an 'old' design that doesn't swim as good as his newer baits, i still like it a lot, the wobble on the surface is unique and its really good at really slow ....
  5. i guess they dont make those in lefty eh?
  6. this one has nice small profile that glides thru the guides w or w/o glue
  7. any chance of making a suspending or very slow sink version? or do i have to cut into the lead again ? :_)
  8. love that bait, caught a bunch of fish on it , it only has one flaw: to many followers !:_), drives me insane to see a DD take a looksee and then slowly sink away, i tried rippin the bait , slowing down more but no dice.... i gues w a lesser bait i wouldn't even get them to check it out but its darn frustratin'!
  9. looking for a fishing/swimbait partner in norcal (petaluma) to go midweek mostly, sharing the high cost of gas.... i have boat, can backseat also, fishing clearlake/berry/delta/sonoma etc. screaminglizard@comcast.net
  10. is was actually pretty good for us yesterday, not in numbers and size but in amount of bumps and misses, the muddier the water the better it seemed, got a couple nice ones on 7in rising sun light hitxh after i downsized from 9in w lots of shorts strikes....
  11. alltho its fun arguing w steve about baits, he's the 3:16 plastic baits specialist, just looks at he foto's on the site :_) ennuh, when are we going fishing again mr urban?
  12. hehe, it was supposed to be a response to the 'stripers anyone?' post..... where's my coffee? :_)
  13. when winter comes, i'm at the Ca delta, hunting for stripers, theres nothing more exciting than a 20lb striper hitting ur lunker punker!!!!
  14. quality is all that counts :_) i have a buddy who bought a couple cheap(er) 'tru tungsten' trout baits, we swam 'em next to my RD and now he wants 1(or more) himself. so it is initial quality and innovation that will always prevail, not to say that a little competition is bad :_) andre
  15. favorite rod to launch a RD floater a proverbial country mile? lenght? power? thanxxxx
