  1. I love fishing. I fly fished for trout when I was younger and was obsessed with it. I tied flies for years before I started getting heavily involved in bass fishing. I did both equally for a while but catching an 8" trout doesn't compare to catching a bass of nearly any size. I started throwing swimbaits 13 years ago? I started making 'em about the same time. I started throwing swimbaits because they are a great tool that matches the hatch. They aren't the answer in every situation. Sometimes a perfect crawdad imitation is the answer and that results in the biggest fish. I throw them because they are a useful tool to match the hatch. It helps that they draw larger fish too!
  2. NUFO!!! You're the man. Thanks for posting that link. I'm going to be doing a lot of vacu forming.
  3. Hey guys, I've been doing some research and getting heavier into making several baits at a time and I'm getting frustrated with my artistic inconsistencies and the issues airbrushes can have JSJ posted a video on Insta of a perfect 10 glider that he painted with a full bait wrap stencil. I would like to make some. If any of you guys could help me figure it out, I'm sure all of our bait making skills would be improved. I'll try to post a link to the video. https://www.instagram.com/p/BK85QH-Bqd4/?taken-by=jsjbaits&hl=en I'm thinking it's some type of thin silicone? Thoughts?
  4. Or Matt Allen!!! Friggin Legend on Clearlake.... They're probably both booked though.
  5. Dang Ceaser! Thats double the space i've got. lol Mine is 10 x 12!
  6. Is this not the biggest fish in underground tournament history? I know I haven't followed all of em but that's winning in style man. Nice fish.
  7. Awwww yeah. Was great to meet you on the water on sat. Look forward to seeing what comes next!
  8. Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to making baits again. Yes, I just need a rolling swivel chair and I'll be set for the next 10 years.
  9. Not as of right now James. I gotta make some. Lol
  10. Figured I would share some of the fun I've had on my own baits. We don't see that enough on here! There should be a got'em for homemade baits. lol Here in the Delta, when the striper start running through is one of my favorite times in the whole world. It's my favorite time because when the striper start feeding on shad, they push them into the grass oftentimes. When the stripes start feeding, it gets the bass ALL FIRED UP. My dad and I were catching a million small striper on top water and jerkbaits when out of no where a giant bass inhales the striper I had just hooked. It spit my striper out and ran and ate my dads striper. What do I grab? A glide of course. Second cast to the point and BOOM! Fish on! I set hard into it and my drag peeled. The fish hooked me on a tule and was gone. I locked down my drag and 3 casts later I get slammed again! Got it in the boat but it wasn't half the size of the one that ate the stripers. Throw her in the box and start casting again. Three casts later WHACK. A nice 3 pounder. We returned to the spot an hour later and I got one about 2 on a waking gill. All four of those bites happened in less than 10 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. Enjoy the pics.
  11. Guys... It's finally done. It's finally freakin' done! I was holding out for a while to try and get some kitchen cabinets off of craiglist but the right deal still hasn't come up so I built a temporary wrap around counter. When I do finally get cabinets it'll be gorgeous, with over 30 ft of counter space and storage both above and under the counter. To say I'm stoked is quite the understatement. As of right now I have the counter set up starting with mold making/ plastic pouring, moving through assembly and paint. I still need to make a spray booth with filters and an axial fan but I'll be able to start pouring baits the next time I walk into the shop!

  13. WAYNE! If your fish woulda been .5 lbs heavier you guys would be dead tied.... Great fish Chris.
  14. The only stripers I ever catch are when I have 2ft of line out anyway. lol
  15. I like the 300. I can throw 9 inch glides on it no prob.
  16. It looks like a clear silicone with pigment added. Good luck.
  17. Huh... Surprised no one has posted anything from their day at San Vincent......
  18. There's just a ton of baitfish right now. I found a really large school of holdovers but nothing big. They were all in about 14ft of water on the outside of the weedline pushing shad up into it. Hope that helps! The glide got em going but they weren't committing to it. I was fishing in the middle of the day so I guess if it was early morning or late evening things might have been different. They were still eating topwater though...
  19. Flyingnose703, I think it comes in to play more with baits that are slow sinking, not so much with floating baits.
  20. The only thing I didn't really see people mention is demand. The demand for a large swimbait is far smaller than the demand for five of the same crankbait! Right? Swimbaits are a niche piece of the pie when we talk about where bass fishermen IN GENERAL spend their money. Sure, the industry is a 19 billion dollar a year one but VERY little of that actually gets spent on swimbaits. Fewer major lure manufacturers creates a higher demand for such a niche product. With the swimbaits being a niche product, the supply being low because of initial disinterest, creates a high demand for a product with low supply.
