Glide bait tips, tricks, techniques

Thanks! I searched the forum, the stuff I found was more about which Baits work best, less about actual techniques. -
I've been doing a lot of research on glidebaits. They're one bait that neither my friend, nor I catch on very often, but they seem to be big fish catchers for a lot of other people. I realize that we don't use them a lot based on where we fish the most (weeds), but we've been fishing a lot more clear water. We typically have luck on rats, slammers and the like, but never anything big on glide Baits. I've been fishing S wavers and savage shineglides. I get a ton of follows, and a few small bites, but nothing like I see caught here. Wondering what you guys do to turn those big followers into biters. One thing I've found is to have a soft plastic on standby, ready to go and when I get a missed hit or an aggressive follow I drop the plastic (6" hudd or weedless paddle tail) near where I saw the follower and about 50% of the time I can get another hit, but again, I'd like to see the hits come more on the glide Baits. Thanks guys.

I have a 14' old town. 2 guys can stand no problem. It's 42 inches at the beam, which makes it really stable and it only drafts Maybe 2 inches. The only issue i have is weight, its really heavy for what it is. My fiancé and I can move it no problem, but for those solo trips I'd consider getting a set of wheels from LLbean or making a set yourself.

I get it, I consistently get hit on slammers by little fish too. My question was phrased wrong. What "big fish" Baits do you use that consistantly get nailed by little guys, and why do you think they're so aggressive.

I love the look of this bait both in the hand and in the water. So do the fish... but the wrong size keeps hitting it. Last fall and so far this spring I've had sub 1lb fish absolutely annihilate this thing, one yesterday came clean out of the water on the strike. What Baits do you guys use that seem to catch quantity but not quality?

We do full contact ice fishing... when a flag goes up it's every man for himself getting to the hole.

My PB rainbow trout came slinging flies on chrismast eve 2014... 3 weeks later we were ice fishing in the same spot. Last year all the local ponds froze over but never got cold enough for safe ice. Sucked.

Went out a few days ago and managed one bass on a cranked down 7" 2x slammer... went out the next morning and my slammer bounced.

Imagine a big feisty pickerel just snipping that thing off? Ouch.
