  1. I use suspend strips between the front hook and bill. Works great, digs head first, easily added or removed, and deflects great. Any time you add weight you lose a bit of action but I don't think it causes less bites.
  2. Thanks for the info on the diet explanation. Always wondered why some have daggers and some don't. I thought it was a genetic thing. Living in Cali and catching 8s and DDs must be tough......I feel for you guys, poor hands.
  3. If it's an advertised price call them and they will price match. Don't give your money to BTD, dudes a douche.
  4. Dude is the biggest douche in the swimbait game.
  5. Welcome to madville. I fish deep clear lakes..up to 40/45 feet. I use ROF 5 and 12. The 5s you can fish slower deep with less hang ups. The 12s faster...so get both. You'll get it once you start fishing them. Weedless 68s is a must if you fish grass. Color is secondary in my opinion..they all work. The two baits you mention are perfect..all you need.
  6. I didn't realize they were discontinuing the resin model when they came out with their new version. I just thought they would have both....why wouldn't you? Hope they get bit as well as the originals.
  7. Ordered a spare and three more for my buddy/brother. When they arrived they felt kinda light. Weighed the old vs the new and.....Old 1lb. 2oz, New 9oz. Quite a bit of difference. Contacted the maker and he can't explain why my old one weighs so much as he makes them the same as he always has...yeah ok. Maybe I left mine out in the sun and it went through some kind of chemical transformation...kinda like smelting but at a lower temp. Even the chain is smaller. Enclosed is a pic of the old vs new. Old is stainless steel, new looks like aluminum. I know I pushed the product before but the new one just doesn't weigh enough to hit big baits...so buy with that in mind. The hound dog(from tacklewarehouse) weighs 8 oz. put some chain on it and you have one for 15 bucks. I'm off the 44Mag band wagon. If any of you make, or know someone who makes a heavy one let me know.
  8. When I see the words "flaccid" and "Mandingo" in the same thread...I'm out. Those east coast boys been staring at ice for tooooooo long.
  9. Best fish on the planet...wish they would come up with a fresh water hybrid. Nice chunker.
  10. Jealous of you guys that whack em in the salt. Nice fish.
  11. you mean now we even have baits not liking each other now? Oh yeah..mine do. The Hudds fight with the Baitsmiths(and kick their asses too), and the 3:16s fight with everybody.
  12. But they won't be as pretty. I had mine in a cardboard box sitting next to a bunch of hudds and nothing happened. Sounds like Ragos just don't like em.
  13. Putting a Pluton aside and using a Lexa is like leaving the vette in the garage and driving the bug.
  14. I have done it quite a bit. Stick to your six inch baits and under with bottom hook trebles. Triple trouts, nates baits, CL8 clacker, small S-wavers to name a few. I use rainbow and brown trout colors. Pinch the barbs closed, it's impossible to get hooks out of trout skin. Small soft baits like river2sea bottom walkers, hammers, and storms work pretty good. Tried the 6inch Hudds and have had some big 25-30 inch browns come and nose the bait, they just don't eat it. I mainly have fished big rivers where speed is key, trout can chase down a bait pretty quick so your retrieves are faster than normal. Casts up river or cross river and burn it in. Down river puts too much action on the bait I believe and doesn't get bit as much. Good luck and have fun, I do. Guaranteed you won't see anybody else doing it,
  15. Looks like I'm going to have to try one out seeing how I live on the surface of the sun. Are they super tight? Suffocating?
  16. Check your guides, spool, whole reel where line touches. No way can you break 30 on a cast unless your He-Man...or a spool of bad line. Tie an overhand knot in your line..pull hard..and see if it breaks at the knot.
