As stated above the wood non-billed Cracker works better as a twitch bait, for me anyways. The billed Cracker works better if you want to crank it or waked it. Here's a couple links of vids that show the difference. The non-billed Cracker is my favorite top-water bait. Twitch ,slap, pop and a 180 turn, then kill and just wait for the blow up. regards, Casca

welcome to the S.U. you hope start sticking fish with your 175 soon. Okuma sb rods are a good place to start and you might want to look at Shimano Cardif reels. where are you fishing out of? here's a helpful hint, use the "search" button to find a lot useful info. good luck.

Awesome man. Great video,thanks. -
chefjayson, maybe this will help. any plastic tail you use will sooner or later get torn off, usually sooner. you might be able to secure the tail where it attaches to bait sufficiently but it will get bit in half soon. you'll always be replacing the tails.i have some Rago rats, but mine are the wood ones and had the same issue. here's what i did. i replaced the tails with leather (like in leather shoe laces). i secured them with a silicone adhesive. i don't feel i lose much tail action using this method.if you have to use plastic, good luck. regards, Casca

Nice fish Ben. Gene Kelly would be proud! regards, Casca

Skaugger, You could also treat the tails with a waterproof spray to keep them floating better but I don't think it's necessary. regards, Casca

Sweet fish and nice vid. I had the same issues with my Rago Rats,so I replced the tails with leather(like in leather shoe laces). Since then I haven't lost a single tail. I don't feel I lose much action using the leather tails, here's a pic. regards, Casca

Casca, for the 4oz baits we're using the LDC production and custom Heavy, and the Dobyns 807. I believe the reels used were the Curado 300E and Calcutta 300D with 25# P-line PF on both. I have thrown these baits on other setups, and I feel the action is not impeded much based on rods and line. As long as you are comfortable with how the rod/line cast, the action of the bait shouldn't be a problem SeanM, Thank you so much for the additional info.,it will certainly help in regards to throwing those baits. thanks for taking the time. regards, Casca

Top Ramen, terrific vids, thanks for posting. makes me want every single bait,if only it were that easy. hope you don't mind me suggesting something. could you also post what equipment (line, rod, and reel) you're throwing these baits on. it would give a great guideline as to what is needed to achieve the action shown in your sweet vids. thanks again for posting. regards, Casca
