  1. I frequent a pond set up the exact same way. I do really well waking Slammers and Wake Jrs around the channel edges. They're not swimbaits, but I also did OK for myself fishing whopper ploppers in the same areas this past summer.
  2. I have to second what everyone else has said; after a few trips I got used to the longer handle and haven't had any issues. I've been using one of the Mattlures rods with the telescopic handle for a while and feel really awkward casting with the handle on the shorter setting.
  3. Same here - the rates were very reasonable and the delivery time wasn't too bad (maybe 2-3 weeks)
  4. I'm the same way. That pink Slammer in your pic is sweet looking.
  5. I definitely second this. Once you land a few fish you'll get a pretty good feel for how much line to leave out. I sit 100% of the time I kayak fish and haven't had an issue with rods up to 7'11" - I can't imagine the extra 7" being that big a deal.
  6. The Slammer, TT, and Snake have been sold. The JSJ gill is still available.
  7. I have a few baits for sale (not really interested in trades) all prices include shipping. 7" Slammer (lightly used) - $30 7" Triple Trout slow sink (lightly used) - $55 JSJ Bluegill floater - this bait has a small chip on the fin - $45 Lucky Craft Snake - $65
  8. I have to agree with Seth and Mossy. I have a MH 7'6" and I really like it, but I really don't like throwing anything heavier than 2oz on it. The XH would be a lot better for some of the bigger baits you have.
  9. Is that white bait a Pat's snake/eel? That's pretty rad looking.
  10. Is that a Municipal Waste shirt in your avatar?
  11. Here's a couple pics of the baits I PM-ed you about.
  12. That's an absolute giant for RI! I like that you're getting it done on the white/red head plug - that's one of my favorite colors for topwater.
  13. I have the MH and really like it, but personally, I really don't like throwing anything heaver than 2oz on it. It's a kickass rod for 7' Slammers and other baits in the 1.5oz range though. The Heavy is a much more versatile rod.
  14. I was having a hard time posting pics in a PM, but here are the rats. The black one has a scratch inside the joint that you can see in the bottom pic. Otherwise they're in pretty good shape. I think the bottom one is a Tennessee Shad pattern.
  15. Sorry, the 2nd rat is in a shad pattern, not bass.
  16. I have a couple Rago Sewer Rats in black and baby bass - let me know if you want either.
  17. Try contacting Mike Shaw through the MS Slammer website.
  18. Pretty much my favorite way to fish - if you've ever night fished with a Jitterbug, night Slammer fishing isn't much different, just up-sized. I've caught fish on both the 1x and 2x, but like the 1x better because it fouls less. Don't be afraid to throw the larger sizes, I've caught 1 and 2 pound fish on the 12" Don't worry too much about color; I've caught fish on shad, frog, perch, and white baits both day and night, just buy what you think looks cool and you have confidence in.
  19. Big picks rule. I'm right by you; live in Seekonk and work in North Attleboro.
  20. Wake those Slammers at night! That was what first got me into swimbaits. Still my favorite way to fish.
  21. I was out in my yak on a fairly windy day and went to shore to relieve myself and stretch my legs. After I finished, I turned around and saw the yak had drifted off 40-50 feet from shore. I think it was in April and it was a cold and muddy swim to retrieve it.
