  1. 8" weedless will be nice, but can you imagine how hard its gonna be to hook fish with it? Me personally, Im looking forward to the bluegill and 12"!
  2. Theres a bunch of nonsense in there but its a good read and describes the maniacal obsession many of us have with big bass. In Pursuit of Giant Bass is a must. The BBZ is very, very good. Lots of helpful info.
  3. Ask Him for a plug knocker and hang in there. I have never lost a swimbait to a snag... ever. They'll all come back with a knocker, it may take 30 minutes or 30 seconds, but they'll all come back. Now is THE time for the big bite. This is the time of year we live for. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w248 ... nocker.jpg
  4. I use a crucial xh and it gets the job done just fine and 8" hudds are about all I fish with. Im sure there are better $300 rods out there, but Ive put my crucial and cardiff combo through torture this past year and I wouldnt change a thing.
  5. I wanna go chunk a hudd in that trout hole!
  6. JT, I dont think the cold bothers em like we think it does. I was hammering fish on traps in 3' on Fork when 30% of the lake was frozen solid last winter. I dont know a lot about how they react right after a stock, but I do know some survive no matter what. I got to talk to the biologists in a shock boat here in september and they told me that many will survive no matter the severity of summer. And this particular lake gets a 90 degree surface reading some summers. A 30acre pond with 4,000 is loaded.
  7. Would you expect anything different? Almost everyone is willing to test new baits, especially a bait like a 3:16 that are so hard to get! Yeah the odds are against us that we will be picked, but it's an exciting opportunity at least! I agree. I didnt mean to sound negative, Im just shocked at how much traffic this site actually gets compared to people who actually chime in from time to time, thats why I just dont post a lot. Maybe with a thread like this some folks will be more active. I think the idea is awsome and will benefit everybody.
  8. How is it when half the posts regarding actual swimbait fishing questions and techniques can sour at the top of the page for days with no replies, but this goes 15 pages in less than 24 hours? Got a lot of takers on here looks like to me. I know, I know, I got a low post count so what do I know.
  9. I pulled up Acme mapper, hoping it would show the topo on the lake, some lakes it does. All I can tell is it gets fished a lot, lol there are boats all over in the satellite image. I would rotate every point on the lower half of the lake with that mission fish. Its gotta have some channel coming out of the dam I would think, theres a creek coming out of it. Looks like a shallow lake, there may be some hump out there too that holds some big fish. I know its a swimbait site but I wouldnt rule out a big worm after dark.
  10. Count me in if you could use some Lake Fork testing!
  11. Hawdamighty! $200 for a used spook?
  12. Seems silly to me... making a list of the top 40? Who has the authority to and what is it based on? Dont think anybody but the people on the list cares much.
  13. Thanks man, Im going to fish hard the next couple months.
  14. Thanks guys. Im gonna go and keep at it regardless. I just make this post with hopes of getting fired up and keeping my confidence high. Its been especially tough lately.
  15. The trout truck is coming to a couple lakes Ive been learning this summer. This is the first stocking since early spring... What should I expect with the hudd bite, when do I need to be there? The day of, day after, couple days? Ive been chunking 8" hudds and other big trout baits where there are hardly any or no trout at all and it has been a grind to say the least. Im hoping this fall and winter will make it all worth it.
  16. Nice! I bet that was fun. Any big ones?
  17. Very, very important... to me anyway. I believe it is the primary factor in whether I get a big bite or not. Weather patterns are secondary (but extremely important as well). This is just my opinion based on the experiences I've had so far. Heres a moon fish. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w248 ... ls/891.jpg
  18. I get upset with murky lakes because I cant see them. I look at a follower as a success though. She surrendered her position and thats valuable info
  19. Entertaining thread. I wouldn't hesitate to post a pic here, but that is because the idea of a swimbait is a lot different in Ky, and I wouldn't imagine local guys around here would be on this site or even know what it is. I dont want the fish Im after exposed to sloppy big bait presentations and getting more conditioned to them. Im don't worry about the fish getting stuck so much. With that said, I used to post pics on a website that was for local fishing in general. I posted them when I was younger and dumber and wanted attention. I got all the attention I wanted and I dont post pics there anymore.
  20. +1, very nice of you James.
  21. Who gave you the red ass?
  22. Any socal guys able to chime in here? I searched the dfw site but there are no records I could find of how many trout they were putting in the lakes when they were booming. I would really like to know how this compares to trout planting elsewhere.
  23. I think theyll be fine. I watched the icast vid. Looked good to me.
  24. You should have a reply by now, I think hes been out. He'll take care of it.
