  1. Ive never done an official intro post on this site, so here it is. My name is Will, Im from Pa., Ive been gradually getting more and more immersed in the big bait world over the last few years. Speedbead got me hooked, so its him I blame every time I end up parting with more and more of my cash. Ive got a small collection of baits, a couple of of Slammers, a MattLures Gill, a few Hudd 68's and what has become my absolute confidence bait, a High Power Herring. Ive also been known to chuck a bait or two of Speeds when he's feeling generous I have two swimbait setups at the moment, an LDC production/Cardiff combo and a Shimano Caenan/Okuma combo I use as well. The Caenan is far from traditional, but with the smaller baits Im using, its worked pretty well for me, ultimately, I think a lexa will replace it over the winter
  2. I prefer co angler/camera man
  3. Agree with the above, called there a couple of times before, never had an issue
  4. As a guy who spent this past season in your almost exact same shoes, spend the cash now. LDC production and a 300 series Cardiff is my setup now, Im cheap by nature, but I finally ponied up the cash and its well worth it.
  5. I ordered two and they're fine, that sucks man, hopefully Huddleston will live up to their rep and help you out
  6. Release video was awesome, the pics came out well too, she looks huge, had I not been there to see the scale, I wouldve guessed well over 8....I guess thats the next goal
  7. I dont know about the wierdest, but the coolest and scariest are easy. The coolest had to be a few years ago, fishing some small ponds near dusk. I was using a buzzbait, trying to capitalize on the setting sun. In the fading light, the water blew up around my bait, I set and the line snapped, at the bait ( either frayed line or a poor knot). As the fish returned to the water, I couldnt see the fish due to the low light but all I heard was the clacking of the blades of my bait in the fishes mouth followed by the splash of it going back underwater. I still remember that like it was yesterday. A close second in this category would have to be last August, being on Speeds boat for his PB, unbelievable fish, and a great story. My scariest moment also occurred on Speeds boat a few years ago, it involved a water snake, a boat oar and a lipless crankbait. Im getting chills just attempting to type the story. Im sure Ive had other scary moments, especially considering the amount of times I end up in the water during any given trip, but the snake story sticks out far and away as the scariest moment of my fishing career
  8. No shortage of clowns out there...good looking out on this one
  9. Awesome looking bait man, the tail modification in the the last pic looks pretty good
  10. Alright, looks like most of the low range has been taken, Ill go high, 8.1
  11. I can see how you could draw a parallel between this and that. Its all about not doing things just because its the way theyve always been done, but being willing to take a new approach, accepting the risk in hopes of a bigger reward. Great book, great movie, at least for a baseball geek like me
  12. After reading the original thread where the dude got called out by Don, and this one, Im not surprised, yet I think the upside to all this is that it can be clearly seen that this community has each others backs. An encouraging sign for a newbie like me who has next to zero faith in the human race as it is. Although I must admit, the perfected bass fishing quote did make me giggle.
  13. Very slick look, wieght wise it is a monster though. Any idea on retail price yet?
  14. JWA, Im all to aware of the budget dictating what I fish with, I just figured itd be interesting to forget the money portion and just see what guys prefer. I like the idea of people posting two setups, the fantasy based one and the reality based one. My setup for this coming year will be very budget friendly, but able to handle what Im throwing. Id love to have one of the LDC's, but the money thing is a killer. Hell, Ill fish with a bamboo rod and some yarn if it boats fish
  15. First off, Im fairly new here, ive posted some comments here and there but in the grand scheme, Im definitely a newbie to this forum as well as the whole big bait thing in general. After serving loyally as Speedbeads co angler/ cameraman and watching him throw big baits with some success i became intrigued and am now starting to get my feet wet in the complex world of swimbait fishing. So here is my question, if you were forced to pick just one bait, one rod and one reel to fish with for eternity, which would it be? I know its a broad question, but Im looking for as close to a universal setup as exists. Im just curious to see what the responses are.
  16. I used to be of the opinion that GSP was unstoppable...knee surgery may change that
  17. Yeah man, we got there pretty quickly, luckily the lake sits right along a road of the same name so we were able to just punch into the GPS and go from there. If everything is done right (a big if, I know), its going to be pretty sick in a few years. It was good meeting you, nice to know we're not the only ones with the big baits in Pa.
  18. Condit....Diaz has skills but I cant stand the guy. Much like Sonnen, I stopped watching the WWF years ago for a reason, I want fighters out there not "characters"....and just for you Speed....Bisping got ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Shook off my hangover, visited a fishing flea market with Speedbead, bought some odds and ends, met a badass 75 yr old musky fisherman who loves big baits, walked around a drained lake that is being structured by the fish comission and hopefully will be refilled soon, then went home and spent the evening with my wife....all in all, not a bad day
  20. If I find one, it'll be Speed's, of course that doesnt mean Id give it back, Id sell it to him at a reasonable price.....
  21. As the co angler for Speed on most of his 2011 PB excursions, I can attest 100% as to the effectiveness of this bait. I lost count at the number of times I watched the surface explode beneath this thing only to be followed by a huge hookset(swinging for the fences is the best description i can come up with) and the landing of a fish while I stood there watching in awe. I was skeptical at first as to how effective the bait would be, but after seeing the results, that is no longer the case. The night he landed the 7'6, was more than enough to make me a believer.
  22. I was the witness/cameraman on this one.....absolute monster.....no more doubts about big baits in my mind....
