Just an opinion that has worked for me. Clear vinyl tape. Thicker the better. It's your bait. Do what you want with it. The only reason for doing this would be to maybe help it from being comprimised as far as taking on water. Resin bait who cares throw it as is.

Awesome! Colby speaks I listen. Thanks for taking the time to respond to the questions. I fish a small pond down the street that gets heavy pressure everyday. Will take into account some of these things pointed out thanks everybody.

I loved both! I had the ML version of the 795 and that handle was perfect length for me. The 806 was a ML version as well. That handle just a bit to long. I love those blanks and I'm not trying to bash Dobyns in any way just stating my experience with those two rods. Both had issues with the guides popping out. Could well have been me causing the problems. I am not above stating that. I did use a rod wrap on both of them. They where never in a boat getting banged around either. The service was awesome and they did re wrap both of them with new updated guides. I just couldnt look past getting them back crooked. I would def. get any one of those again if the guides were changed from Kigans. I really liked the action on those rods.

I would like to be apart of this community. I have been lurking for too long. Thought this was a good way to do that. I have been fishing swimbaits for about 4 yrs. Haven't had too much success but enough to know there is so much to learn about this passion we all have.There is a public pond about a half mile from my house. I have fished it off and on since I was 15 or so. Never caught anything over 2 lbs. This pond gets pounded day and night so I figured going on a front when the temps dropped to 32 degrees and sleeting. Thinking nobody would be fishing that day. Had some success. This is my PB from that outing. I have no idea of the weight. I know better than trying to guess. Was shocked to hook up with this fish. I was fishing a 7 inch homemade glide using these brick outcroppings as points. 45 deg. angle cast one way move to the opposite side 45deg. from that side. Hit about 3 of these and she hit it. It has been a long time coming. Never thought it would come from a tiny drop of water so close to my house. So thanks everyone for the support through this site and others. Hopefully I will be able to contribute something someone can use in the future.

I have always been lurking on this killer site. I havent contributed anything. I apoligize. Figure if I had spent enough time doing what we all love doing then I could.
