Nice man. I'm sure that 6 will come, just a matter of time. At least you're getting plenty of quality fish along the way. Can't complain with that! I love the Maine fisheries. I know there are some big ones up there. Keep at it and thanks for sharing. I guess your buddy can't even dicker a swimbait bite while you rock n roll.

Dobyns Champion 795 or 796. If you want the shorter handle, make sure you DONT get the Mike Long model. However, I'd check and compare the lengths to what you are using. The Mike Long model may still have a shorter handle that what you've been using.

Haha yeah it warmed up right after I left I guess. How'd you make out? Went to alamoosook by the hatchery. Love the variety of structure out there. If you havent been you should try it if you're ever up there.

Nice job. Was just up in Maine a week ago did well on the swimbait at a few Lakes near Orland. I went the day after that big front of rain came in with bluebird skies but they still hit top water swimbaits. It got cold quick up there. What are the water temps there now?

Cool low budget setup. Were those calculations used for optimum slot spacing on your Hudd hanger/hangar?

Posting this for ChefJayson. The Chef was out doing his usual night time run and was waiting on a fishing partner at the boat ramp. His partner was still 20 min away so he decided to tie on an XL Nezumma and make a few cast right off the launch. On the fourth cast he heard something explode on his Nezumma. The rod bent over and the fish started ripping drag. After a few minutes of playing the fish in he finally realized the monstrosity of his catch. With his free hand he frantically dialed his night's fishing partner to see his ETA. "Get over here QUICK!" Just up the road his partner gunned the throttle thinking the worst and was greeted to this: Tonight's Special...XL Nezumma Rat w/ a side of 27lb 14oz Pure Strain Muskie I'll let Chef come here later and fill in the blanks. Needless to say he didn't plan on pulling in something like that! Congrats Chef!i (FYI. FIsh was landed without a Net or BEARD at a boat ramp. Chef's Hands show the battle scars...)

This is the predecessor to the 300E. They are essentially the same reel except the line guide on the DSV was titanium coated and had an extra pinion support bearing. Both of which you can add to update it to the 300E specs. I'm not 100% sure but I think the DSV is made in Japan and the 300e is made somewhere else. Also, many like the silver paint job over the the disco hunter green color (myself included). Otherwise, blindfolded in your hand, you cant tell the difference. Great reel and not always easy to find for sale.

LMB will hit I'm sure. Just tie it on and give it a whirl. My buddy has been getting bit on a saltwater popper pretty similar in size to that one just not jointed. If you don't have success, it won't because it was a "saltwater" lure (but that pic looks like it has a trout paint job so it might be a large freshwater plug possibly for striper if not largemouth). Nothing like getting bit on a bargain find! Good Luck.

I thought the anticipation would make you like the bait more.

Anyone use those super-wide gap Decoy treble hooks????
Ltrain replied to waynem's topic in The Underground
Hey Bruceman, is this a hook better suited for topwater, suburface. or both? -
I think it's actually 8' 10" Usually the first two digits is length (feet' / inches") and the third number is power/action Looks like they made an exception in this case because second digits got rounded up. But in the end it all matters to your own preferences. You'll get lots of differing opinions on what a rod can handle and what people like. Some people want a rod to really load up and some people find that a really loaded up rod feels "overpowered". It's all up to you.

It honestly looked like you were pulling a log out of the water when it initially breached! Congrats on the PB and thanks for sharing!
