    First fish...

    ...T-boned the yellow banana!
  3. Throw that magdraft mid-column on that medium speed .. they still eat faster moving baits in winter. Good luck!
  4. The 6.5in and 8in Gambler big GZ is an awesome weedless. It has insane action and has out performed other weedless baits I have tried in weeds/grass. Best of all it is cheap! Give it a boil to soften the plastic or straighten out the tail if it is a little wonky. The packaging isn't the greatest. Use an 8/0 or 10/0 beast hook.
  5. The gambler 8in big GZ can be fished with an unweighted beast hook. The swim on it is insane and this bait is truly flying under the radar.
  6. I fish from shore also and the best way to avoid snags is to know where the snags are in your waters. But sometimes the only way to know where a snag is.. is to get snagged first. I've never been able to unsmag a lure with a lure retriever. It seems the limited angle from the bank just doesn't allow it to work properly. If you're hung up you either go in after it or consider it gone. I would add some billed crank down baits into your arsenal. Toxic baits smash and don't get hung up very often. Try the black dog bubba cracker for an 8 oz bait.
  7. I also discovered this a few years ago. What an eye opener! And oh yea bass will hit a triple trout in winter as well.
  8. If you can find the og baitsmith magnum you can do the same mod. It has a similar foam and weight harness like the hudd. The new version hawghunter has a different harness that appears to have the weights molded inside. You may be able to drill into it. I've never tried it myself tho.
  9. This year I re-learned how to fish super slow (barely crawling on a 5:1 reel) when the bite gets tough. Caught my biggest bass of the year and several others this way. I also played around with straight braid on a 1 to 4 oz moderate rod for lighter weedless and wake baits and it worked beautifully. I've always liked the response you get from using straight braid but was never able to find the right rod. In addition being shore based I have been searching for the one rod to do it all and I think I've found it. Had my buddy build me a rod on the nfc 807 swimbait blank with double footed acid wrapped guides. I run straight flouro on this setup and was throwing baits ranging from the Toxic wnc to the nates 12 trout. I have caught fish on trebled, top hook, and beast hook baits. So far I have not lost 1 fish on this rod. Once hooked, it's coming in. Caught a 19lb striper and muscled it in. The versatility and power of this blank is amazing and it has become my fav rod. Cheers to 2024
  10. The 7 8 or 10 in are all great baits. For the sinking models I like to fish them faster and mix in pauses. They are catch all sorts of fish.
  11. Did anyone mention st45 size 2? That is one of the best hooks for many baits including the k9.
  12. In. Awesome way to let your light shine. Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family.

    Late fall fish

Some fish from the last couple outings. The weedless has been a consistent producer this fall but there's something about that ole waver that gets em to eat in cold water even catfish can't resist.
  14. The swaver 200 has been a consistent producer for me in cold temps. This one was from last week.
  15. Got a chance to get out and grinded pretty hard for one bite. Doesn't look like this one will cut it but just stoked to get a solid one during tourney week.
  16. I tried the size 1 when they first became available on TW... first bite I got didn't hookup and just bent one hook shank. It didn't feel like a big fish either. Maybe I got a bad batch? Idk but not taking chances and threw the rest away.
