So fishing with a snap is preferred?

I've been watching a lot of swimbait fishing in Japan, and many anglers are throwing big hard bait lures like jan-crafts, and deps swimbaits on snap swivels. Its there a reason for this? I thought snap swivels unbalanced a heavy bait in the water?

I don't know how this will apply to West coast anglers, but here in the South East its been colder than average. I am having some problems locating the big girls. Any tips???

I fish with braid 100% of the time. I only use a leader for a little stretch, here in Ga there are not a lot of gin clear water.
