  1. I've swam out more than a few times retrieving my wake jr after getting it hung up on fallen trees along with a few swims for cast offs. Since I've been messing with braided line I've been re-tieing every 20-30 casts(just an estimate). That being said I also leave a little more tag end on my palamor knot than I usually prefer, just in case... If I get hung up on a huddleston I'm usually not to hurt when the time comes to break myself off on the snag. Overall I don't get too upset losing a swimbait. The worst that has ever happend to me is I sent a mattlures hardgill flying off into the darkness one night after a cast off from braided line. Since then I'll never use anything less than 65#for swimbait applications, lesson learned.
  2. haha, my thought exactly.
  3. I've been fishing my 400b this whole year and I can agree that it's a little overkill since I rarely throw lures over 3.5 ounces. I'll still keep the shimano around for when I make the jump to the deps 250 and mother (one day). In the meantime I have a Daiwa Lexa 300 on my way in the mail. I can't say anything about the Daiwa first hand but from how others have been talking about this reel I think it's something right up the alley for fisherman throwing 7-8" lures.
  4. damn, i knew the curado would have been sold quickly. what a steal!
  5. I haven't looked back since I've switched to braided line.
  6. Bass Wake Jr, 7" white slammer, rof 5 68 special, 175 slide swimmer, or a rm negotiator. Pretty much the same lures I get bit on during the day. Once a week to get my fix I've been going out with nothing but mighty minnows and just crushed bass in the 1-2# range.
  7. If I knew what I knew now, I would have gotten a glidebait as my first lure. We all know hindsight is 20/20.
  8. Damn! There are rods on the market that can handle the mother?!
  9. A mattlures hard gill will get the job done. I've only used the floating version but I would say a slow sink would be an all around better choice. Hopefully there's a release on the fs blugill soon.
  10. My first swimbait fish is my pb and it also came on a slammer, I've been hooked since.
  11. Welcome to the site, I'm a little green around the gills myself.

Nice catch and nice sb set up.
  13. If only I had direct deposit I wouldn't be in this predicament. At work right now (supposed to be working ) I'll have my check deposited and funds paypal'ed over as soon as I get off work. Which will be around 3:00pm mountain time.
  14. I don't get paid until tomorrow! Please hold it for me until then please. I can't send pm's yet but you can give me your email or reach me at tgc.paulroach@gmail.com or 970-210-3812. I'll definitely buy it, just needs the funds first.
  15. Holding it down for the Colorado anglers. I never get to fish
  16. Sorry about the delayed posts, a moderator has to approve my posts before their actually posted up on the website. Work has been keeping me busy but I will be able to get my fishing in Monday for sure. My email is: tgc.paulroach@gmail.com If anyone wants to get a hold of me so we can meet up in the Dallas area and do some fishing. I'm staying at the Grand Hotel right off of I-635 and I-75. I'll probably try to fish white rock or bachman this afternoon/evening. Again thanks again SU for the hospitality.
  17. It's very much appreciated I'll be in Dallas from the 6th-17th. I don't know exactly where I'm staying at as of right now. I'll have my hotel and rental car information by the 4th though, already got my plane tickets. I don't think I'll be able to bring my true swimbait gear down but I do have a 3 piece steelhead rod that's good for slinging weedless 6" huddlestons. Thank you everyone who replied already.
  18. I'm heading to the Dallas on a business trip for two weeks and I plan on bringing my swimbait gear with me. It will be my first time in texas, from a fishing standpoint I'm excited to see what I can hook into with my swimbaits down there. I'm not going to be able to afford a guide or boat rentals so I'm going to be limited to fishing from shore. I'll most likely be fishing the late afternoon into evening time. Is there anyone from the area that's willing to point me in the right direction? Looking at google maps it sure does look like there are a lot of ponds to fish in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. From a swimbait angle is there any I should look at over others? From a selfous standpoint I'd like to hit a home run and find a nice place to fish compared to striking out for 13 days and find the right pond a day before I have to come back. Any help is appreciated, thank you folks.
