  1. +1. Ospreys drive me crazy when they won't stop dive bombing my baits cast after cast. If only catching giant bass was as easy as catching ospreys.
  2. That thing is a stud. Nice fish man.
  3. I have a G Loomis 956 and had a problem with the reel seat coming loose after about 2 years of bombing baits. I sent the company an email explaining the problem and they emailed me a form to complete. I filled out the form, paid a $20 processing fee, shipped the rod ($27 via FedEx) and then they sent me a brand new rod. The process did not take long at all. My experience with their customer service was great, although I have only dealt with them just that time. If you buy from American Legacy Fishing I think they have some sort of exclusive G. Loomis warranty program that is either really inexpensive or free. I recommend looking into that. If I was you I would go for the Loomis 957.
  4. Anyone deal with Ebay JDM reel shipments from Japan?
  5. How much can someone expect to pay in fees? I have done research on the customs and border control website, but cannot seem to find any concrete answers. I have also read shipping companies sometimes have extra fees once you get the package.
  6. For those of you who have purchased JDM reels, have you had to pay duty fees or US customs fees to receive the reel?
  7. Thanks Mike. Those calicos are such amazing fish; they will ruin anyone from fishing freshwater again.
  8. Yep, I fished with Benny and Justin. Sounds like you had an awesome day. Those fish are studs.
  9. I recently had the chance to head to Long Beach and target some calico bass. Fishing was tough at first, but we got on some good ones at the end of the day. Fishing calicos was the most stimulating style of fishing I have ever experienced. There is so much anticipation when you are standing up on the deck while trying to balance and, at the same time, bombing your swimbait as close to the boilers as possible. Once you get bit you get to feel how strong the fish are and they are damn strong. I am now ruined for lake bass fishing. Amazing experience. All pictures captured by Justin Reynolds.
  10. That last fish was a giant. I enjoyed the video; thanks for making it.
  11. If the topwater bite is slow I will crank down the wake baits. Thr Wake Jr is an awesome bait for doing that. The Shellcracker is another good one. Just crank it and you'll get bit.
  12. Get a Shimano Calcutta 300D/301D. This reel has a huge cranking handle and is very smooth. After fishing with the Calcutta D, I don't really like fishing anything else.
  13. Sounds like Dan has been building a solid fishing resume. Nice work sir.
  14. I came across this dead moose earlier this spring. I've also seen several moose swimming in the lake while I'm fishing, but the dead moose is probably the strangest thing I have seen.
  15. I use the ST-56 trebles in the 1/0 size. I used to use the ST-36, but I bent them out everytime I fought a big northern.
  16. The best retrieve is the one that catches the biggest fish. It's your job to figure it out each time.
  17. The 3:16 sunfish is another really good starter bait. It's not a giant bait so you can throw it on your conventional gear. It also gets bit really well and manages some big bites too. Rig it the way they have it pictured on the website. Fish it however you want.
  18. This should be an interesting thread. That Speedmaster looks sweet.
